Extreme-right party gains shock prime minister

Associated Press in Brussels
Monday October 9, 2006
The Guardian (UK)

The Belgian prime minister, Guy Verhofstadt, said he had work to do to lure voters back to his national coalition after local elections produced large gains for the extreme-right party Flemish Interest and dealt a blow to his re-election prospects next year. Mr Verhofstadt's Liberal Democrats lost votes mostly at the expense of Flemish Interest and the Christian Democrats. The extreme-right party, which ran on an anti-immigrant platform, has been kept in opposition in Antwerp by an unlikely rainbow coalition whose only common cause is keeping the city out of the hands of the far right.

Since al-Guardian is "extreme left" coupled with a perverse love for Islamo-fascists, I won't trust their characterization of this party too much..... anyone who wants to save Europe from Islamo-fascists is "extreme right" in their book....

I think it is more that the world is slowly waking up to the propaganda that the left spews, the promises they make they do not fulfill and their governing ideas and practices fail the people and hurt them more than help them.

People around the world are smarter than the left politicians like to think and after years to decades of failing them, the masses are slowly waking up.

GW is the not the problem in this world. Liberals are and their willing partners in the media that like to cheer them on.

No, these guys are anti-Semitic former-neo-Nazi skinheads who recently converted from beating up Jews to beating up Arabs. I don't like them, I don't trust them, and even if I agree with them on a couple of issues, I'm not going to want to have anything to do with them. Neither should y'all.

Not all Christians are skinheads or hate mongers, though the left surely like to paint us as such.

Oh, thanks for the info, I'll certainly believe your characterization of them, I just don't trust al-Guardian!!

They sound like bad news.... too bad it's tough to find political parties in the EU that are neither socialist wankers nor neo-Nazi..... what else is left in that God-forsaken continent????

But if mainstream politicians refuse to tackle the real issues concerning the unrestrained immigration of Muslims who refuse to assimilate, the extremist parties are sure to grow even more.

As Churchill said, the Hun is always at your throat or at your feet. The liberal line has them at the immigrants' feet right now, "right now" being the operative term.

Well, at least they probably won't be too sensitive about preserving a politically-correct image

???

I didn't accuse Christians of being skinheads. I accused Vlaams Belang, a Belgian political party, of being dominated by violent, thuggish skinheads. See the difference?

Party activists have murdered five or six people in Belgium in the last few months -- some of the stories are absolutely horrific. Make no mistake -- these people are neo-Nazis.

What would an ethical and good-natured Repatriation Policy be like? There in Belgium, here, wherever. Consentual and non-coercive one would assume -- along the lines of an offer for relocation asssistance and counsel.

About what percent of cultural aliens would accept such an offer of Cultural Repatriation?

I agree with Paleo Conservative. The skinhead party is gaining votes because the "mainstream" parties are not listening to the voters and are locked into open border multicultural group think.

Islamophobe Party Slumps In Antwerp

By David Rennie in Antwerp
The Telegraph (UK)
(Filed: 09/10/2006)

The most successful far-Right party in Europe, the Vlaams Belang, or Flemish Interest party, suffered a major upset last night, losing its dominant status in Belgium's second largest city, Antwerp.

Before polls opened, the party was predicting that it would win nearly 40 per cent of all votes cast in Antwerp.

Instead, voters handed a huge increase to the Flemish Socialist party, SPA, with 35.3 per cent of the vote.

Vlaams Belang's share rose slightly to 33.5 per cent, final results showed. It made gains in northern Flanders, with its share up seven percentage points to about 20 per cent.

The port is a historic city of some 450,000 people, rocked by rising racial tensions, including the double murder of a toddler and her African nanny by a teenage skinhead with close family links to Vlaams Belang.

For the past six years, the party has been kept out of power in Antwerp by a "rainbow coalition" from across the political spectrum.

In a bold move, Vlaams Belang declared it was expecting significant support from Antwerp's 20,000 strong Orthodox Jewish community, despite its links with Belgium's Nazi occupiers in the Second World War. The party has softened its once combative, anti-immigrant rhetoric for this election, adopting the slogan "Secure, Flemish, Liveable", and stressing issues such as fighting street crime.

The party's prospective mayor in Antwerp, Filip Dewinter, coined the description "Islamophobia" in an interview with an American Jewish magazine last year, to describe Vlaams Belang's determination "to stop the spread of Islam in Europe".

The party has called for strict limits on immigration; limits on the number of mosques in Flanders; rules forcing immigrants to learn Dutch and study Flemish culture, and curbs on state benefits for jobless immigrants.

Mr Dewinter, 44, estimates that illegal immigrants comprise about 6.5 per cent of the city's population. In all about 50,000 of the total population is Muslim.

However, Orthodox Jewish residents had scorned the idea that Vlaams Belang would win up to a third of their community's votes.

Wearing Orthodox black suits, the men were carrying palm fronds in honour of the feast of Sukkot, celebrated this weekend.

That festival meant it was forbidden for Jews to cast their votes, unless they had organised a proxy vote.

If Europe doesn't want skinheads elected, then the MSM and Mainstream political parties should permit a civilized debate on immigration. If not, it will soon be mob rule.

And personally, I don't have a problem with any group beating up Arabs in Europe, given how they are raping Swedish girls on a regular basis - and then taking advantage of the left-wing judicial system to skate out of jail.
