If it was a "slip of the tongue," I'd actually give him a little credit. I could understand it.

But it wasn't.

He has a history of offending our troops. He, and elitist Liberals like him, have a disdain for the military. He thought the same way in 1970. He said what he said and meant it at the time.

He's lying now.

He did this in a written statement?? What a coward.

A Statement from John Kerry

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.

Did you know I was in Vietnam?

I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

You people are too stupid to appreciate my sophisticated sense of humor!

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

Bush's fault

In public, not in person.

A step in the right direction (finally, but probably too late), but this does not really seem to be a sincere apology outside of the context that he's sorry he got caught.

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted"

That is not a factual statement. His words were correctly interpreted.

I guess a half assed attempt at an apology is pretty much what everyone expected, but I don't think it'll die down until well after next Tuesday. Thank you lurch for energizing the electorate.

Kerry should just shut up and go away. He needs to think before he speaks and even then he shouldn't speak. He is an embarrassment to America. No amount of saying its not what I meant can change what he said. He said it and from the many times I have seen it I truly believe he meant it. I believe he thinks he is above the rest of us. Sorry Kerry but you totally were and are way out of line. Now do the right thing and get out of politics and spend your wife's money snowboarding or whatever "your kind " does.

Yes, his writers could have done much better. He just will not admit wrong doing no matter what. The RATS deserve him.

Obviously, Kerry never took the class on "Personal Responsibility".

You are right it is a fake apology but he had to say it to stop the "bleeding." It must have been a bitter pill to swallow going from "I apologize to no one..." to his current statement.

However, you are right he could not apologize like a man and admit that he impugned the honor, patriotism and courage of our fighting forces. He is, was and will always be a pathetic, miserable jerk and coward.

This is the standard non-apology apology.

How can John F. Kerry apologise because his words were misinterpreted? If they were misinterpreted, they were misinterpreted by somebody else. How can John F. Kerry apologise for the actions of somebody else?

In any case, he was doing pretty well with the standard non-apology apology until the third paragraph. Then he had to blow it, but trying to advance his nutroots agenda again.

The people he attacked don't visit his propaganda site.
The apology without the sound bites should be made live before a national audience the same way they were delivered. His highness should beg Armed Services Radio to broadcast his apology globally.

Hey, Kerry... This veteran sees you can't resist saying I'm so stupid I "misunderstood" your clearly worded jibe at service members. How stupid are you?

Did that rice that hit you in the brainpan finally short out that one semi-working circuit?

In closing, I'd like to say BITE ME!

Sincerely,
MortMan

I guess he couldn't apologize 'live on TV'. Ok, so that part is over with. Done. Fini. Complete.

Now,,,,

"WHEN IS HE GOING TO APOLOGIZE TO THE ENTIRE COUNTRY FOR THE BLATANT, TRANSPARENT AND BALD-FACED "LIE" THAT HE CONJURED UP TO EXPLAIN HIS OUTRAGEOUS INSULT TO OUR MILITARY"??

It will probably be enough to stop the story. Demanding an apology was nuts.

What happened to "I Apologize to No One!"

That's right. Just yesterday, he said, "I owe no one an apology." So why does he say today, "I personally apologize to any service member"? He's been forced to publicly eat crow, notwithstanding his lame finger-pointing and excuse making.

NOT ACCEPTED! He can make it up by showing up in Mecca with a pink tutu and a nasty picture of Mohammed around his neck saying "Islam Sucks".
