Elder Bush takes on son's Arab critics

Former President George H.W. Bush took on Arab critics of his son Tuesday during a testy exchange at a leadership conference in the capital of this U.S. ally.

"My son is an honest man," Bush told members of the audience harshly criticized the current U.S. leader's foreign policy.

The oil-rich Persian Gulf used to be safe territory for former President Bush, who brought Arab leaders together in a coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's troops from Kuwait in 1991. But gratitude for the elder Bush, who served as president from 1989-93, was overshadowed at the conference by hostility toward his son, whose invasion of Iraq and support for Israel are deeply unpopular in the region.

"We do not respect your son. We do not respect what he's doing all over the world," a woman in the audience bluntly told Bush after his speech.

Bush, 82, appeared stunned as others in the audience whooped and whistled in approval.

A college student told Bush his belief that U.S. wars were aimed at opening markets for American companies and said globalization was contrived for America's benefit at the expense of the rest of the world. Bush was having none of it.

"I think that's weird and it's nuts," Bush said. "To suggest that everything we do is because we're hungry for money, I think that's crazy. I think you need to go back to school."

(snip)

"This son is not going to back away," Bush said, his voice quivering. "He's not going to change his view because some poll says this or some poll says that, or some heartfelt comments from the lady who feels deeply in her heart about something.

"He is working hard for peace. It takes a lot of guts to get up and tell a father about his son in those terms when I just told you the thing that matters in my heart is my family," he said. "How come everybody wants to come to the United States if the United States is so bad?"

Good for the fmr. President to set the record straight and to put the commie faggots in the audience in their place.

Guess we'll have to stop intervening on behalf of muslims in places like Kuwait, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Somolia then.

Ungrateful arab bastards. Screw 'em.

"Sharon killed a lot of innocent people in Palestine. Hamas is not a terrorist group. They have the right to defend their country. This is something that forms part of our freedom and dignity. Allah help destroy this body of evil that is making human life so miserable. Destroy America, a country where evil is sponsored."

Something about sleeping with dawgs and getting fleas.

The Bush's are an honorable, patriotic family but, we had our chances and now the enemy has assumed command.

The ungrateful outnumber the grateful (not just arabs), it's the old what have you done lately line of attack. Daddy needs to understand that before he ventures into any more "friendly" territory.

I take that as confirmation that GWB's foreign policy is right.

She's lying...they respect and fear George W. They know he "gets it" when it comes to the caliphate and all that.

Seeing BDS spill into formerly friendly locales and being so hurtful to an elderly past president who loves his family just sickens me.

The hatred of President G.W. Bush isn't spawned from his actions, but from a concerted effort by the left to diminish him since the day he was elected.

God Bless the Bush family, the United States of America and the men and women of our Military who focus on their mission despite the hateful atmosphere. At this time of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for them.

I was thinking the other day that we all ought to write to the Bushes, all of them, and tell them WE still support them.

"Bush, 82, appeared stunned "

Bush I lives in a dream world. Only a man totally out of touch with reality would have traveled all over the former Societ Empire tying to tell ehtnic groups who had been terrorized by Russians for generations that they should stay allied with Moscow.

My thoughts exactly. This Thanksgiving I am thankful that we have a President who recognized islamofascism for what it is and for him having the chops to see it through despite the unrelenting attacks from leftists and other assorted loons the world over.

And now some "class" commenets from the moonbats

Wonkette

Bush Sr. Still Old, Creepy
Making a “suitcase full of money” stop in the United Arab Emirates today, Bush 41 put an end to those Father Knows Best rumors by reminding everyone he’s still a creepy old man. During a Q&A after some “leadership conference,” the business-friendly Arabs who consider the elder Bush a hero still gave him a bunch of crap about his son’s Iraq debacle. Even the gals called Junior a dangerous twit.
