'V for Vendetta' haters, Freep this Poll!
The Internet Movie Database ^

Posted on 12/19/2006 5:10:43 AM PST by Chewie84

Now, on the Internet Movie Database, they're requesting nominations for their polls on the Best and Worst movies of 2006. Anyone who's a registered imdb user (It's free, and I've been a member for years, so don't worry) can put down and submit what films/ actors they'd like to nominate for the Best and Worst categories. As I'm sure most of you know, one of the worst films from this year was the pretentious left- wing propaganda film 'V for Vendetta,' which portrayed conservatives as evil monsters, and portrayed terrorists who blow up historic buildings as heroes. You just know there are going to be a bunch of DUmmie potheads trying to put it on the 'Best Movie' list, so I thought if you guys were interested, we could do a kind of counterattack by nominating it for 'Worst Movie,' not to mention other 'Worst' categories like 'Worst Actor.' Anyone interested, who is or would like to be an imdb user, can just go to the link above to get to the 'Worst' section.

I've seen that movie. It wasn't that bad. It was a future similar to Orwell's 1984..........

I watched it this weekend. Not bad. Very entertaining.

It's just a movie, by the way.

That's the way I see it as well. I don't understand why people are portraying this as a communist's wet dream. It's a story in the same vein as 1984, Fahrenheit 451, etc. A warning to extremists on both sides.

It was pretty heavy-handed in its attempt to be allegory for the current WoT, though,

If "Brazil" had been made post 9-11, people would say the same thing.

I saw the *conservatives* in this film as extreme right-wing Dictators. IMO, the leftist portrayed were just people who got fed up with the tyrannical gov. and gave the power back to the people. This scenario coming to theaters near you......if things don't get better soon.

Haha! Brazil was awesome! I love it when they have a refund to give to that widow and can't figure out what to do with it.

Perhaps - but I also suspect that if Brazil had been made post 9-11, it wouldn't be the movie it is.

'V' hit all the 'right-bashing' themes in a predictable manner. Gotta say something bad about the Christians, gotta make sure gays are persecuted, gotta make sure anybody from the right looks like Satan, gotta make sure that the left is complete exonerated. It was cleverly made - I just didn't find it very clever.

I've seen the movie. I read the graphic novel first. The Wachowski's should feel deeply ashamed of what they did to Moore's work.

That being said, it wasn't that bad of a movie. It wasn't the "real" V for Vendetta, but even liberal/commie Hollywood couldn't completely stifle the main theme.

In order to be free, some times you need to fight for it. And yes, it's worth it.

I know, that's my point, that's why I suggested those who are interested do it.

Sorry, the last movie I saw was Song of the South when I took my kids to the theater in 1980.

I saw Song of the South in the theater in 1958.

The only film I've seen that came out this year was Bobby, which wasn't very good. I pretty much stopped going to movies after seeing American Beauty.

The Dictators and Nazi-like leaders in this film were conservatives? What part of the storm trooper government portrayed in this film impressed you?

Wow! I'll bet you never saw the movie.

I didn't think it was propaganda for the left at all, if anything it took shots at both sides which is fine, we need to be shown the faults in our thoughts some times, we're not always perfect here on the right either, we just happen to make mistakes while working in the best interest of our country as opposed to the left.

I've seen the movie, and to me the whole government running every aspect of your life and running every aspect of the marketplace is a very socialist thing, and that's what "V" was rebelling against.

To me he seemed more anarchist than anything else.
(Which happens to be the extreme end of the right wing world)

None the less, it was a good movie and I'm not some one who looks for propaganda everywhere anyways ;)

I agree. I liked the whole "Government should be afraid of the people" theme. One day, Democrats will be in control of the government, and the shoe will be on the other foot.

I think that it would not have been released if a Clinton was in power, though.
