GGG Ping

I'm into chapter four of Stephen Oppenheimer's book, Origins Of The British, and I always thought I knew who I was, a WASP.
Instead, I'm learning that I may be related to Cheddar Man, lol.

Shouldn't it be Central Asian DNA found in Western Europe rather than the other way around? The Aryans are considered to have been based in Central Asia before moving west to Europe, and southeast to Iran, Pakistan, and India.

They missed one:

I have a mtDNA sample from a 5300 year old individual excavated on the California coast. It was determined to have Haplogroup A (the basal haplotype).

That same haplotype is still present in living descendants.

Just think what will be learned in the near future! This method of mtDNA analysis has been common for only about 15 years or so, with most studies coming from just the past few years.

Should get these results submitted for publication within the next few weeks (still waiting for one more determination).

We are on the verge of some really interesting discoveries. DNA analysis will tell us tons about our ancestors and how each of us are related, where they came from, when they migrated, etc.

It would be nice if the test were cheap and timely such that a portion of the world's population could have their DNA cataloged. Would genealogy research easy.

In 1903, skeletal remains were found in a cave in Cheddar, England. The remains of a 23 year-old man, who was killed by a blow to the face.

Cheddar Man, hum? But will they ever find out who cut the cheese?

I want them to get the DNA of a Neanderthal, mix it with a Cro-Magnon, clone it, and see if the kid turns out to be a Democrat. Just a theory studying how Democrats came to be.

"You Zog, have work all year saving food to prepare for winter. We have lay on our ass and done nothing. Therefore you must give us 80% of all you food....You get 10%...No make that 5 %..Also that crazy Saber tooth who is killing us all the past 30 year...It you fault. You try to stop him last week from killing us and that make him want to kill us."

Well, this was an awful lot of effort to get ancient DNA. Why didn't they just visit the offices of Senator Bobby "KKK" Bird???
