OK - how's about US doing a little of what it takes to get our man in? How about not bending over every time the clow car media chimes in? How about us stopping whining and maundering in public places about our poor chances? How about that?

I agree. My mom and I were talking about who was running so far. My reply: are these really my only choices? What would Reagan do? I really wish his mind hadn't gone. He would have been such a wonderful advisor for the GOP in the 90's... Heaven knows we could have used it!

In case no one else has stated the obvious yet, I'll do it:
If the Republicans lose to this creature they have no one, NO ONE, but themselves to blame.
And, as feckless, stupid, and craven as they (THE GOP) have been over the last six years, I wouldn't be surprised to see it.
She'll have to follow the bent one's advice and triangulate, posing as a centrist on important issues. (He is working behind the scenes, after all.) I'm betting she'll jump to the right of them on illegal immigration (it won't take much; some bogus fence-building and such, with plenty of hot air) and kick their asses.

Go back to the core Reagan beliefs, and stick to them, Republicans! 1. Cut Spending.
2. Cut Taxes.
3. Reduce Size and Scope of Government.
In that order.
There is simply no reason that the amount of money spent by the government has to go up, year after year. We have all accepted this as the normal way of things. It need not be so.
In fact, it is entirely achievable for government spending to go down year after year, for quite a long time. Real tax relief will come from real government contraction. Without spending less, all the promises of tax relief are just smoke-and-mirrors.

1. The Democratic base is only slightly more thrilled with her then ours is, and they are more likely to sit home then ours is as well.
2. She is barely over 50% in likability and in people who MAY consider voting for her and the campaign ain't even started it yet.
3.With the DEM's in control, anything bad that happens tarnishes them now and not just us.
As long as we put up a leader and don't pussyfoot when it comes to campaigning, not only can we beat her, we could beat her with a wide margin.

stated that she will appropriate oil company profits (that's socialism!) I can't wait to hear what whopper she tells next!
When she says she wants to confiscate profits, I don't think she's lying. She does.

The "Conservative" media would rather spend 90% of it time shooting it own people in the back
Too many want to thow up any R and hope that person gets elected. Then they will whine about how so many so-called Rino's get elected.
Maybe, if the GOP would put up a viable, strong conservative candidate, they wouldn't have that problem. Instead, they keep rushing to the left to fill the void of the Dems moving even further leftward.
The GOP still hasn't figured out why the lost in 06. Now, they are latching onto an 08 defeat to avoid the rush.

Not if he wins NY, NJ, PA and Florida. Otherwise we could have another 2000 scenario in a battleground state. I'd rather have strong, decisive win.

"New people will be running for us. Never give up."
Sorry, it's a no win for the base. If we motivate, and elect Democrat-lite, the message to the Republicans is that we want Democrat-lite. And we will be fed a steady diet of Democrat-lite.
So, we just have to hope that the Democrats don't completely destroy the country while the Republicans regroup and figure out that most Americans are conservative and want conservative candidates.

Republicans have been converted into a bunch of spineless wimps. Why are they afraid of that woman? A year is a long time and things will change between now and then. Hillary Clinton is not exactly the most likeable person in the room. She has none of the bonhomie affability of her husband. I don't view her presidency as ordained.

The irony is this:
The Dems were supposed to lose in 06, according to many of the conservative talkshow hosts, and that would be the end of the Democrat party.
Now, the demise of the Republican party seems imminent.

And, as feckless, stupid, and craven as they (THE GOP) have been over the last six years, I wouldn't be surprised to see it. I will go further and say that it will be no great loss. If the Republicans continue along the path of almost-but-not-quite-as-bad, there will be nothing there worth saving. They are taking up a spot that could be occupied by a real political party.
They're all too interested in protecting their own necks. They won't figure out that doesn't work until the last one is kicked out of Washington.

Well, if Republicans would actually stand up to the lies and smears, they'd stand more than a chance. They'd ensure that no Democrat gets elected to the WH in our lifetimes.
But no. They're all playing this new game called "new tone in Washington" and we're taking it on the chin.
