I can't stand Mark Belling's voice.

I would just like to continue to remind folks how important involvement is. If you like Duncan Hunter's stance DON'T LISTEN to naysayers. They seek to instigate a self fulfilling prophecy of discouragement. Yuck!

Instead sign up and support Duncan Hunter. If someone else better comes along there is no dishonor in changing later.

Please go to www.GoHunter08.com and volunteer and/or donate.

Also, Duncan has a strong following here on Free Republic, so join in by voting for him in the Free Republic straw poll: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=170

Sorry you think my points are absurd. But you seem to be missing the biggest absurdity of this discussion. I know that there will need to be a comprehensive plan to handle the invasion of America but I would rather see my tax dollars spent on something that will actually make a difference! Spending millions on a fence and its upkeep is absurd! It will not stop the flow! It may slow the flow temporarily but it will not stop it! But if you begein fining businesses who hire illegals, the jobs will be gone and there will be no reason to come to America illegally. The question is what do we do with the 12-15 million who are already here? Answer, we make the businesses who want to employ them pay the bill for getting them legal! After all, it is only fair that they pay the bill since they are the ones who have been raking in the huge proffits from the cheap labor! Yes, the system will take some tweeking. Yes, there will have to be a system of registration and identification better than we have now. My whole point is this, businesses have been reeping the proffits from the invasion! They should be totally responsible for making sure that the illegals they hire become legal! A fence does not stop job creation and thus it will not stop illegal immigration! It just isn't that hard to figure out.

Oops, forgot to address the point I made about Mr. Hunter being untruthful about controlling illegal immigration with a fence. I believe that any politician, including Mr. Hunter, is being untruthful when they tout a fence as being the answer to stopping illegal immigration! All politicians know what it will take but simply refuse to do it. Mr. Hunter may say "build a fence" but he knows that it will never work. He may also recognize that a fence is the only thing that congress might allow. He knows that Congress will not do the right thing which is to stop jobs for illegals. Thus, he is merely pandering. Hunter may be the best thing going for conservatives but, that does not mean that he is no loger a politician!

First of all, I've never heard - and I can guarantee you never have, either - Duncan Hunter say that the fence is all that's necessary to deal with the flow of illegal immigrants. So if we're going to talk about honesty, look to yourself first.

Secondly, if you are so ready to dismiss the effectiveness of the section of fence that Hunter did get built, then just ask Israel if fences are of any value.

You are correct that I have not heard Mr. Hunter reveal a comprehensive plan that will work! Thats part of the problem with politicians! Thay only give you a taste! Just enough to get your vote! All the while, they know that it will not work! My point is COST vs Effectiveness! Surely you do not believe that a fence is as effective as no employment for illegals! As for the comparison of the fence in San Diego and the WALL in Israel, they are two different animals. I will concede that the fence in San Diego may have slowed overland immigration. What about boats? What about Planes? Do you have any statistics on the number of illegals who enter by other modes of transportation? I, unlike politicians, am being honest in my appraisal. I am not trying to bash Mr. Hunter, I am merely trying to state the obvious. If you can save money through policy rather than spending the money ineffectively. I go for changing policy!

Okay, so your points are:

a) There's no point voting for anyone, because they're all dishonest politicians; and

b) If you can't fix the entire problem in one fell swoop, don't bother doing anything.

Got it.

Sorry you seem to be offended by my remarks. On one of my previous posts I stated that it is likely that I will vote for Mr. Hunter in the Tennessee primary. I believe that everyone should vote and we must all SETTLE on a candidate. No one candidate is going to reflect the views of all people. Therefore, we must settle. I would love to here a comprehensive plan from Mr. Hunter but, it is unlikely as it is unlikely to come from any candidate. What bothers me is the apparent belief of politicians that we are stupid and can be deceived so easily! I would rather here the truth from a candidate rather than hearing that they are going to spend millions for something that will not work!

Duncan Hunter: ""As president, I will complete the border fence in six months."

I think this just means he will be hired by Alan Keyes after he loses the nomination...

Your comparing a 20+ year congressman who was Chairman of the Armed Services Committee to that hack tells me you know nothing of Hunter. His record speaks for itself. As opposed to McCain's, Romney's, Guiliani's, Shrillary's and Ears Obama's.

If fences are a joke why is there one outside White House grounds? Nuclear power plants? Between Israel and it's neighbors? A fence isn't the only answer, it's PART of the answer.

Nope! Not the answer and not part of the answer! The answer is fine businesses $10,000.00 for each illegal they hire! That is an answer with teeth, not a cop-out.
