'My time is up,' Nation of Islam chief tells crowd (WRATH OF farraKHAN ALERT)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | February 26, 2007 | MARY MITCHELL Sun-Times Columnist

DETROIT -- Followers of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan didn't disappoint him Sunday. They braved ice-slicked highways and glassy sidewalks to nearly fill the 65,000-seat Ford Field stadium to hear Farrakhan's annual Saviours' Day address, which he used to prepare his followers for the future.

If they were looking for a fiery Farrakhan, they found him in a more than two-hour speech in which he heaped condemnation on America's failing war in Iraq as well as the civil war between Shiites and Sunnis that threatens to split apart that country.

What fascinates me most about Farrakhan's style of leadership is that he has been able to successfully mesh Islamic teachings -- the tenets that dictate the lifestyles that devout Muslims must observe -- with black self-empowerment and Christian doctrine. Indeed, he has fashioned a brand of religion that has attracted a diverse audience across the country.

Neal Taylor, 41, drove from Annapolis, Md., with two friends to hear Farrakhan.

"I've been following the minister for the past 25 years -- ever since 1984," Taylor said. "He has definitely touched my life from adolescence to adulthood. His teaching has caused me to have respect for myself, for others and for my sisters."

R&B singer Anita Baker, who lives in Detroit, apparently contacted the Nation of Islam when she learned that Saviours' Day would be celebrated in the Motor City to determine what role she could play.

Baker was joined on the podium by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons; U.S. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.); Dr. Joe Shirley Jr., president of the Navajo Nation, and Mtangulizi Sanyika, of the African American Leadership Project, one of the leading groups involved in the rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina.

A call to impeach Bush Although the stage was dominated by high-ranking officials, crisp uniformed members of the Fruit of Islam -- the security arm of the Nation of Islam -- and women dressed in long white satin dresses and traditional head scarves, many of the people who paid to see Farrakhan were people like Taylor. This was Farrakhan's first public appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery nearly six months ago. He was accompanied to the stage by his wife and daughter, a registered nurse.

Although Farrakhan vowed to take it easy, he held the audience spellbound for well over two hours, and at one point called for the impeachment of President Bush and his entire administration because of the Iraq war.

"Saddam was no threat," Farrakhan said. "If he were a lion, he had no teeth, and even his paws had no claws."

"After [America] came in, all hell broke loose," Farrakhan said.

"The least the Democrats should do if they don't want to impeach Bush is to censure him," said Farrakhan. "Something went wrong with his leadership."

Farrakhan also had a strong warning for people who call themselves Muslims or Christians, but do not live up to the teachings, and he thanked the Rev. Jesse Jackson for leading the charge for ending the use of the "n-word" in the black community.

But hip-hop -- the music genre that helped make the racial slur seem acceptable in pop culture -- was well- represented at Saviours' Day. Russell donated $40,000 to help underwrite the event. Def Jam and Baby Phat gave $20,000, and rapper/ actor/producer Ice Cube kicked in $20,000.

'Hip-hop is art' "Hip-hop is art," Farrakhan said. "Don't talk down on it. Talk up to it, because just like you can lead the hip-hop artists wrong, you can lead them right." Everyone eventually begins to sense their own mortality, and at 73, Farrakhan made that a theme of his speech.

"My time is up," he said, an acknowledgement that a page would be turning for the Nation of Islam.

Conrad Worrill, chairman of the National Black United Front, said while Farrakhan definitely didn't turn over the reins of leadership, it is clear he is making room for younger leaders.

When he became ill, Farrakhan set up an executive council to share leadership responsibilities.

"What I see in the nation is a lot of young leadership on the rise," said Worrill, who was on the podium during Farrakhan's speech. "The minister is using his leadership to nurture the development of other leaders within the nation."

Unfortunately, while the nearly filled Ford Field offered a stunning visual of Farrakhan's continued support, many of the people who were in the stands complained that they could not hear.

Farrakhan had to stop at least twice during his speech and ask for a sound technician.

Those who didn't quite hear it didn't have to worry.

The DVDs and CDs were on sale immediately after the address.

Notice the unrelieved positive media coverage that this man gets. I guess if you're the right kind of nutcase, the news media loves you.

And what a piece of work this idiot is. A few years ago she tried to demolish the Chene House - the oldest house in Detroit and one of the oldest wood houses in the country.

When the courts ruled that it was an historical site and could not be torn down - she ignored them and had bulldozers smash the historic building into a pile of rubble and had it replaced with an International House of Pancakes.

Her reason for demolishing the historic edifice was "There was a restaurant in that building in the 1930s and they wouldn't serve blacks - so it deserved to be torn down."

And what happened to Ms. Baker when she broke the law and ignored the court ruling?

Absolutely nothing.

Saviour Day? Wuzzat? Loonie Looies birthday?

Watch this outfit come apart at the seams within 6 months after LL assumes room temp.

I have seen it happen again and again, a 'religion' (very loosely used BTW) based on a single maniacal leader.

AKA Cult of Personality.

The one worry, what will the Fruit of Islam become? The New Black Panthers?

Oh well, time will tell.

Farahkhan is a discrete subscriber to the world caliphate movement and an indiscreet racist. His followers have no loyalty to the USA, but to the "Nation of Islam." Their sons and daughters rarely volunteer for duty in the US military.

One day we will have to fight them, mano y mano.

Bet ur sweet bippy.Voting in any free election will not be enough for them.

Examples of what Farrakhan has said in the past:

"Katrina should have taught us that the government of the United States is not our friend. Katrina should have shown us the cold-hearted nature, not of white people, but the cold-hearted nature of the rulers. There are white people who want to see something good done. But they are hamstrung by white people who don't want to see something good done." "Katrina should have taught us that the government of the United States is not our friend. Katrina should have shown us the cold-hearted nature, not of white people, but the cold-hearted nature of the rulers. There are white people who want to see something good done. But they are hamstrung by white people who don't want to see something good done."

Saviours' Day, Chicago, Illinois, 2/26/06

White people are potential humans…they haven’t evolved yet."

Philadelphia Inquirer, 3/18/00

According to a journalist's account, "Farrakhan called 'the white man' the 'anti-Christ' to rousing applause."

Jackson, MS, 9/19/97, Clarion-Ledger, 9/21/97

What is going on in the world is a battle between “theocracy” and “democracy.” “Theo” and “cratis” are Greek words. “Cratis” in Greek means “rule.” In Latin, it’s “craci.” In English, you change the “i” to a “y”—“cracy” (rule). “Theo” in Greek means “god.” The Greek word is “demos”—demos cratis. In Latin, it’s demon craci. In English, you drop the “n,” put a “y” on the end, and you have democracy. “Democracy” is “the rule of the people,” but what kind of people? It’s the very opposite of theocracy. It’s the rule of a devil…. The enemy is plotting, through democracy, to make the whole world submit to so-called democratic values, so that the demons of the West can rule all the darker peoples of the world under “demo cracy.”

US Muslims are already tied into the international movement for a world caliphate. They just don't say much about it in public, waiting until the time is ripe.

Many Americans know this, which is why so many of us are getting in the extra range time and stocking up on ammo. The Dems know it too, which is why they want to ban "assault weapons". They know damn well we won't tolerate illegal alien violence and US Muslim violence which is sure to come our way.

Its a sad picture, but the USA is about to become a banana republic, where it will be everyman for himself and damn the consequences.

Farrakhan is a symptom of this unamerican orthodoxy, where he wants a theocracy of the UNited States, run by mullahs and governed by sharia law. The Liberal Roman Catholics who are also socialists think they can achieve a Christian Catholic nation via the influx of SOuth American Hispanics. Both Farrakhan and the Hispanic illegal supporters are as bad as one another. They do not care for the nation, their religion comes first.

And so we may go down swinging, just like Davy Crockett in San Antonio, but its still a battle I look forward to , as we conservatives try to win one more for the Gipper!

"And had she been Caucasian - she WOULD have been convicted!"

Unless the jury or the community decided to stand with her.
She assumed, correctly, that's what would happen in Detroit.
She assumed, correctly, that the City didn't CARE enough about an old building to be willing to take on Anita Baker under those peculiar circumstances.

There is a lesson in this.
Had a few officials or a body of citizens acted like Anita Baker did in the Terri Schiavo case, Terri would still be alive. Of course it would have been flouting the law. And sometimes, when things are important enough, you do just that. When you do it, you are gambling that the force of your convictions and the allies in your idea out there will be stronger than the desire or ability of the legal authorities to retaliate.

Anita Baker assumed, correctly, that the authorities in Detroit didn't have the stomach to take her on over this old building. She prevailed.

In the Congressional/Presidential battle over victory or defeat and retreat in the Middle East, we may see another example where the law comes down that the President MUST accept defeat and withdraw, but where the President, by virtue of his office, can decide that the fate of America is more important than this act of Congress and defy it, continuing the fight over there. Congress then will be forced with a straight up or down question of upholding their law and impeaching him, or backing down and let him override the law by fait accompli. If there are 34 Republican Senators willing to stand behind the President, then he is unremovable and can essentially do whatever he wants. They can impeach him 100 times, but without 67 Senators to convict, they can't remove him and stop him from breaking their laws.

Sometimes you have to decide that the issue at stake is more important than the rule of law. Bush may face this test over victory or defeat in Iraq. The Federal and Florida authorities faced it over the question of the life or death of Terri Schiavo (and decided that the rule of law was more important than her life). Detroit and Anita Baker faced it over an old building, and Anita Baker demonstrated that she was more interested in her purposes than in the rule of law. Detroit decided that the principle of the rule of law, in that case, was insufficient to justify a war with Anita Baker. So they caved.

It's all a question of how far one is willing to go in pursuit of one's principles.

Or she assumed, more correctly, that the black city administration of Detroit would help her destroy any vestige of what they consider "white" culture in the city.

I've lived in Detroit for too many years not to know this is the truth.

True. I was born in Detroit, and grew up there back through the '67 riots and many years of Coleman Young.

But that's really my point. Baker made a calculation. The "law" told her "No!", but she calculated that the authorities wouldn't do anything if she broke it, so she did. She could have been wrong, and might have been sanctioned. That's what I mean by having the courage of her convictions. I don't approve of her decision to tear down a landmark, but I do think that there is a lesson in her behavior that it would be well for many more people to learn. Practically everybody simply lets himself be shoved around by the law. Once the law speaks, most people knuckle under and obey. Sometimes the law is horribly, horribly wrong and NEEDS to be defied. The Terri Schiavo case is the most glaring in memory. Sometimes the result of the law is so monstrous, that people have to push back and tell the authorities "No!" Better still if the higher authorities themselves push back (at the courts, in that case) and draw a line and say "Absolutely not!"

Baker did just that, and WON.
Another guy who pushed back and won was Bill Clinton.
Impeached but not removed, the key records sought were NEVER handed over. He brazened it out.
Unfortunately those are bad examples.
Good examples of a pushback should have been the Schiavo case (but there, tragically, everyone followed the law, straight off the cliff into Hell). Another example may be the slow-bleed strategy the Democrats have planned for the US in Iraq. Bush will have a choice: obey the Congress and lose a war, or defy Congress, break the law, maybe win the war, and risk impeachment. He'll BE impeached, but he can continue to do the right thing in office right up to the moment where he is removed from office, and of course he WON'T be removed from office, no matter WHAT he does, so long as 34 Senators refuse to convict.

Hillary Clinton knows that well, and will line up her 34 carefully. Once in power, she will do as she pleases, legal or not, and even if impeached, she will ignore impeachment and continue ruling by fiat, secure in the fact that a President who has 34 Senators in her pocket in fact has unlimited power.
