A senior Iraqi foreign ministry official said on Tuesday that the government was "intensively" seeking release of five Iranians detained by the U.S. military more than two months ago in northern Iraq.
"We are intensively seeking the release of the five Iranians," the senior official said.
"This will be a factor that will help in the release of the British sailors and marines" held by Iran since March 25.
The official also said that the Iraqi government had exerted pressure on those holding an Iranian diplomat, who was released Monday and returned to Tehran on Tuesday. The official would not say who had held the diplomat.
A senior government official, however, said Iraqi intelligence had held the Iranian diplomat. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.
The U.S. military has said the five Iranians, who were arrested Jan. 11 in the northern city of Irbil, were part of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard force that provides funds, weapons and training to Shiite militias in Iraq.

Get the brit sailors back, then proceed with Regime Change: Iran.
These Iranians did the same as what they are claiming the Brits did. If the Iranians don't have to release the Brits, then we certainly do not have to release these Iranians.
They should put the Iranians in a small room with a big clock on the wall counting down. A big digital clock that sounds like the clock on “24”. Very loud. When the clock hits 00:00:00 then they should release pigs in the room. Video tape it all, put it on youtube. Or, just shoot them as spies then let the pigs eat them.
Just this once, I hope he stands his ground. Before all the crap about terming the war. Before all the sanctions against Iran can take effect.

I heard Newt on Hannity yesterday that Iran [not Iraq] has only one refinery! One! All week, his guests have been pointing out that Iran needs to avoid US sanction.
I think that has everything to do with why they pulled this stunt with capturing these sailors and marines. They’re buying time.
Big question is, why are they helping Iraq? One of them in need of some nuke assistance?

It would also make it easier for us to achieve victory in Iraq. In war, any objective less than victory is treason. The Demo-Socialists are traitors, waving the white flag to terrorists both in Congress and by visiting terror sponsoring states such as Syria. Pelosi, Bill Nelson (D-FL), Reid and the others are traitors.
