Ancient Greenland was actually green!

I gathered that from its name.

Just this morning on the Classroom portion of The History Channel, the narrator said that it has always been ice-covered and that it was called Greenland just to entice people from Iceland to relocate there, honest; I heard him.

It was green enough to farm in the 10th Century, when the Vikings came to settle.
