He also defended a speech that the Pope gave last year that linked Islam and violence, saying it had been an attempt by the pontiff to "act against a certain naivety".Very good. We have a lot of those naive folks here, too. Most of them belong to a particular party.

Yes, but that particular party, and its adherents, combine naivete with an arrogant belief that they know better than anyone else. It’s a pitiful combination, but then, that’s what leftists are, pitiful.

sometimes I really like this Pope when he leaves the Reformation alone and addresses things that are a clear and present danger to Christendom and civilization

Remember when the Pope quoted this last year?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
-Manuel II Paleologus
Well, the cartoons were a reaction to his comments.

Short of all out Religious wars, you are likely correct regarding Europe. The framework (Political Correctness, Multi-Cultural progression, etc.) is in place to take the United States. Will it happen here? One would quickly want to say, “no, of course not”, but my question is simple. Who’s actually going to stop it?
