The mind shouldn’t struggle. The Church was, at that time, a great societal powercenter. As such it attracted the same type of Evil that ANY such powercenter tends to attract. ie: The types who want to make sure that others live as THEY say others should. (by the way there is such a “powercenter” attracting these types in the present day)
“Thrust” NEVER changes direction. Evil, as a force, is subject to this law.
You’re right, TB; I suppose my mind was struggling too hard. Your explanation is an excellent one. Yes, the same people are pushing us around today, and, if they could get away with it, would be torturing and killing us with the same self-righteous glee.
