He is the former president of one the largest Communist countries in history.

But Mikhail Gorbachev now has an unlikely new job -

In an ad that will appear in magazines worldwide later this year, Gorbachev is shown in the backseat of a car riding through Berlin, with one of the luxury brand's bags at his side.

The fee he received for the fashion shoot – estimated at several hundred thousand dollars – will go toward supporting programmes at the Gorbachev fund, according to The International Herald Tribune.

Well... a former Communist advertising for a luxury brand. Life's full of ironies, Comrade!

Too bad the car wasn’t hijacked to Lithuania, where there is an arrest warrant out for Gorby.

Isn’t the whole point of fashion advertising to make the product look glamorous? Make you want to join in the fun?

Gosh, if I buy that bag, maybe I too can ride in the back of a limo in a DMZ!

I took this picture in a bar in Macau a few years ago:

Sitting their in Communist China, looking at the image of a Cuban revolutionary hero hawking some chi-chi capitalist drink named after the Soviet Secret police.

It just struck me as emblematic of the ultimate triumph of the free market over leftist ideologues.

(Of course, I had imbied more than a few at that point, so I may have been reading more into it than necessary.)

I know a girl named Andria, her stage name is Amber. She's a stripper. She has this huge birthmark, covering most of her left shoulder and part of her breast.

A lot of people call her 'Gorbachev'...

True story, sorry, had to share... 8~)

That is amazing and scary! That was my first choice and I went with the second...lol. Mine was ...”all I got was this bag full of money”.

Thanks for putting the picture up.
