What a low blow. You must be proud of yourself.

Over the years, I have come to admire your posts, and your activism more than almost anyone on this board. So it is with a heavy heart that I ask what is so low about not wanting to support a cancer patient?

I understand that it was written in a snarky tone, but the underlining theme should be discussed. Even though Fred is in remission now, his doctors have said that his cancer will come back. It can be controlled with treatment, but that treatment is not a quick fix. Personal experience tells me that the treatment may involve a temporary killing of the immune system that could take a President Fred, or worse yet a Nominee Fred out of the picture for up to 6 months.

Don't we have a right to worry about that, and a responsibility to weigh that into our decision making?

You know better than most how the MSM operates. Do you honestly think that Newsweek will carry on with playing down his cancer (instead emphasizing his health) if and when he becomes our nominee.

How many people in this country have been cured of cancer and never had it come back again? I am sure the number is very big.

Unfortunately this type of cancer is not curable. Although it is treatable, that treatment also has it’s side effects. Many patients will die of other things because it is very slow growing, but the median survival rate is about 10 years. (Fred was diagnosed about 3 years ago I believe).

I’m not particularly concerned with national polling because in America we don’t have a national primary.

I hate to tell you, but last I checked. Hunter wasn't doing any better in state polling.

Fred Thompson saved the taxpayers billions of dollars in government waste, fraud and abuse.

FDT worked to enact three major tax-cut bills, reducing the federal tax burden on all of us.

Thompson led the effort to defeat many bad bills and almost singlehandedly defeated Clinton’s S507, which would have destroyed the patent system and handed many American innovations over to the Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese.

Fred spent fewer of the taxpayers’ dollars than of any of his opponents in the presidential race.

As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Thompson worked to cut taxes and reform Social Security and Medicare programs so they will be there for future generations. He was a member of a bi-partisan group of senators endorsing a plan to reform Social Security by cutting payroll taxes and allowing workers to invest in personal savings accounts.

Fred Thompson worked to make the federal government smaller, more efficient and more accountable by achieving a string of significant reforms, becoming what USA Today called, “a leader on a range of clean-up Washington issues.”

Sen. Thompson authored the Government Information Security Act. The legislation, which was signed into law, provided a new framework for protecting the government’s computers from outside attack by hackers, terrorists and enemy agents.

FDT worked to pass the Regulatory Right-to-Know Act. The Act requires the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to disclose to the public the costs and benefits of regulatory programs, as well as an analysis of the impact of federal regulations on state, local, and tribal governments, small business, and economic growth.

Congress approved Fred’s legislation to ensure that potential privacy violations on federal agency Internet sites are disclosed. Thompson released a GAO report revealing that many federal agencies were still using cookies to gather information on American citizens on their web sites without disclosing their use.

Thompson worked with the GAO to conduct and make public the results of the first ever audit of the federal government. He introduced legislation requiring the use of improved auditing tools, which identified improper payments and payment errors made by federal agencies.

Yeah, but if he did, imagine how good the show would be!

It could be a funny show about a stiff, boring, congressman who plays hookey all the time and barely ever makes it in to work. And when he’s there, he funds teapot museums and yells about walls all the time.

That takes stones. You and your buddy are here having a phony hand wringing session about Fred Thompson’s cancer history and you have the audacity to tell someone else that they’re angry, irrational and a disgrace?

Isn’t that sweet. You care about his well-being. And all this time I thought you were trying to use the lowest of low tactics just to bash Fred Thompson in a futile attempt to boost your pathetic loser of a vanity candidate.

Wow, you sound so reasonable. Do you really think nobody keeps track of your posts and knows that you are a shill for Mitt Romney? Go worship your candidate’s shiny hair and leave Fred Thompson’s health to his doctors. Your line of attack is pathetic, petty, and out of line.

Here I was going to offer myself as his FReepersonaltrainer and travel with his campaign. His trainer is prob a Hollywood $250 an hour type. I am 69 and in better shape so could be a real role model.

Actually, as of today, I am for Rudy, not Mitt. But I have also said that I would support any of the eventual candidates.

I truly do not understand the fear on this forum to discussing Freds (or any other candidates) health. I have posted links to information about Non Hodgkins lymphoma, I have also said over and over again that treatment changes and improves daily.

Unlike many others, I have absolutely no doubt what so ever that Fred is not trying to cover anything up. I do not believe that he would do that, because I do find him an honorable man. I will be proud to support him in the future. Whether or not you chose to believe that does not bother me in the least. I do think he would be a much better President than either Hillary, or any dem, and I will fight to make sure he becomes it if he wins the nomination.

I just think it is detrimental to all of us to stick our heads in the sand and not believe that what I am pointing out today will not be headlines in 6 months if Fred becomes our nominee. Do you honestly believe that Newsweek will be so sensitive to his cancer (as they are in this piece) if he becomes our nominee?

In fact, I am calling for all Republican candidates that have suffered cancer, or any other conditions, to release their health records as it pertains to their illnesses. That includes Rudy. I do want to see what his PSA (blood tests that monitor prostate cancer) levels. I want to see all of John McCains biopsy results, and I want to see a detailed description of Freds and others treatments up to this point. If they want to be President this should not be an difficult task. After all we demanded (but never got) President Clintons health records. Why should we expect less from our own candidates?

Save your crocodile tears, Nurse Ratchett.

Your concern for Fred’s health is about as convincing as a vulture licking his chops.

I understand the situation. Perhaps our VP should have resigned because of his heart.

I guess it will be even more important now for Fred to pick a quality VP and someone I met a few weeks ago, Duncan Hunter.

Yeah, he is at death’s door, just like you said.

No wait, he died last week and was resurrected just for the Leno show.

How about Sammy [his son] burps and sucks the air out of Fred so he can’t breathe.

I’m so [NOT] impressed by all your thoughts.
