BREAKING NEWS updated 17 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has replaced campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle, naming longtime aide Maggie Williams to the top job.

Solis Doyle announced the shift in an e-mail to the staff on Sunday.

“I have been proud to manage this campaign and prouder still to call Hillary my friend for more than 16 years,” Solis Doyle wrote. “Maggie is a remarkable person and I am confident that she will do a fabulous job.” The move comes a day after rival Barack Obama swept contests in Washington state, Nebraska, Louisiana.

Solis Doyle said she will serve as a senior adviser to Clinton and the campaign, and travel with Clinton from time to time.

Williams will begin assuming the duties of campaign manager this week.

In a statement, Clinton praised Solis Doyle and said she looked forward to her continued advice in the coming months.

“Patti Solis Doyle has done an extraordinary job in getting us to this point — within reach of the nomination — and I am enormously grateful for her friendship and her outstanding work,” Clinton said. “And, as Patti has said, this already has been the longest presidential campaign in history and one that has required enormous sacrifices of everyone and our families.

“I look forward to her continued advice in the months ahead,” Clinton added.

Steps down? Sounds more like she was fired and replaced.

Well, actually, they are all just switching seats on the Good Ship Clinton (aka Titanic).

Hey Hillary! Are you getting scared yet? Could it be that an unqualified, inexperienced empty suit is going to derail your coronation? (I am breaking out the single malt if he wins Texas and/or Ohio.)

Hmmmm. Must have some office space to ransack and stop the FBI from entering.

Somebody has to be a scapegoat for all the damage Bill Clinton has inflicted.

Heh. Funny picture. Wonderful story. I know that I should be hoping politically for the Clintons to win and divide the Democratic party in doing so . . . but I can feel Hillary’s pain. And I like it.
