KOSOVSKA MITROVICA, Kosovo (AP) — Serbs protesting Kosovo's independence for a fifth straight day Friday attacked U.N. police guarding a key bridge in northern Kosovo with stones, glass bottles and firecrackers on Friday.

Serbia's prime minister appealed for calm as the European Union condemned rioting in the capital Belgrade overnight when demonstrators attacked the U.S. embassy and other Western mission. The United States and EU heavyweights Britain, France and Germany have formally recognized Kosovo.

Serbian President Boris Tadic called an emergency meeting of the national security council, saying the riots that engulfed the capital overnight must "never happen again."

In Serb-dominated northern Kosovo, demonstrators waved Serbian flags and chanted "Kosovo is ours!" Police tried to keep protesters off the Kosovska Mitrovica bridge over the Ibar River. The bridge, which divides Kosovo Serbs from ethnic Albanians, has long been a flashpoint of tensions in Kosovo's restive north

Really wideawake, you are all over the board.

No, my position on the issue remains the same.

Plus, it would appear you have a vast following of fans that also believe you are full of it. With such a popular following it is obvious that not only are you wrong most of the time but you make a fool of yourself while being wrong.

In other words, right and wrong are determined by a show of hands?

Sorry, I'm going to have to dissent from the underlying assumption of your post.

You too, Ben.

I think he started showing his true colors after his 2004 re-election. He didn’t have to worry about what anyone thought of him after that. He was free to take whatever road it wanted without facing an irate voting public.

What would you do if the world militarily forced us to cede several US states to illegal immigrants to have as their own state? That’s what’s happening and the Serbs are militarily powerless to stop it, thanks in large part to Clinton bombing their military into the dust. We DESERVE seeing our embassy burn and much worse.

I'm glad I'm out of the US military. If I was in Serbia or Kosovo, I would have to rip off the blue crap and join the Serbs.

Something has been going on for years that I have no explanation for. For some reason those high in US government or of high influence dislike the Serbs.

One of my friends was in the Army Air Corps during WWII, flying a B-24 in that area.

He said they were briefed to at all costs not allow the Serbs to capture them as they would be tortured.

He found out that in reality, the Serbs would risk their lives and those of their family and villages to save US air crew members.

He has always wondered if they were being lied to about the Serbs, and if so, why, or if it was just plain ignorance on the part of the US military or state department.

Exactly! What in the world has happened to our so called representative republic?

The "republic" sure doesn't represent me any more.

It seems even our so called republicans have gone over to the dark side.

If mexico sliced off a big hunk of this country and gave it to azlatan as their own personal country, how would you feel about mexicos embassy here, throw rose petals at it or exact your anger on it?

Clinton didn't have the UN's permission to bomb Serbia, remember? Do you really think Bush is going to wait for the UN's permission to act now?

According to the Russians, NATO is in violation of UN resolution 1244. I guess Bush better call his lawyer, huh?

What would you do if the world militarily forced us to cede several US states to illegal immigrants to have as their own state?

It couldn't.

Of course, the majority of Kosovo's inhabitants have been living there for generations and are not illegal immigrants.

This whole situation has generated more bad analogies than usual for an FR thread.

That’s what’s happening and the Serbs are militarily powerless to stop it, thanks in large part to Clinton bombing their military into the dust.

The Serbian Army currently has 40,000 effectives, 275 tanks, 600+ APCs and other infantry vehicles, 600 heavy artillery pieces, 40 fighters, 60 helicopter gunships and 500 SAMs.

Not exactly dust.

We DESERVE seeing our embassy burn and much worse.

After that comment, it would probably be best to refrain in future from using the pronoun "we" in referring to Americans. Or in referring to the sane.

Amazing. I can't believe this kind of talk is allowed on FR.

I support the Serbian cause in the larger sense. But their actions here are unbecoming.

Our military have no business harrassing other people’s countries...especially when those people have been allies with the US for two world wars.

I cannot wait to see KFOR under any US NATO/?UN contingent come to Mexifornia to police the newly proclaimed Azatlan.

Uh-oh, the FR resident jihadist supporter has shown up. Careful now, you wouldn’t want to make him angry.

That's because it's not butt-up-in-the-air-head-toward-Mecca time yet.

Know where that prayer position would make Islam real popular???? San Francisco. 'cept everyone would be fighting to kneel at the rear of the mosque. It's where you'd get the best view in the house.

You never answered my question I posed to you yesterday on another thread. Will you back US troops under UN command wiping the floor with Israelis when they protests our recognition of Palestine in Jeruselem?

This is setting precedent for that you know?

Just imagine mexico doing that to us and there stands their embassy, what would you do?

I believe it's righteous indignation that some people on FR are feeling.
