Cleaner air to worsen droughts in Amazon: study

Curbing a notorious form of industrial pollution may ironically harm Amazonia, one of the world's natural treasures and a key buffer against global warming, a study released Wednesday has found. Its authors see a strong link between a decrease in sulphur dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants and a rise in sea temperature in the northern Atlantic that was blamed for wreaking a devastating drought in western Amazonia in 2005.

University of Exeter professor Peter Cox and colleagues created a computer model to simulate the impact of aerosols -- airborne particles that, like sulphur dioxide, are also spewed out by fossil-fuel power plants -- on Amazonia's climate.

The aerosols, while a bad pollutant, indirectly ease the problem of global warming as they reflect sunlight, making it bounce back into space rather than warm the Earth's surface.

Aerosol pollution is the solution to curb global warming! Clean air sucks! What a confusing time for the environmental movement...

On the upside... we can import cheap firewood from Brazil.

The important lesson here is that there is always something for everyone to worry about in the greater pursuit of global socialism.

Note the “correlation means causation” implicit in the argument. Of course, the full paper attempts to rationalize this, but (to me, at least) it’s somewhat unconvincing. Of course, the expected Goracle blaming of the recent monsoon on global warming pulls the rug out even further. Gasp. Something happened. We’re looking at global warming. Ergo... Sooner or later, we’re gonna learn.

I’ll bet the global warmists are ecstatic over the two volcanoes that are erupting in Chile.

Now they have a case for eliminating 99.999% of the world’s population to make up for the ‘extra’ CO2 emissions.

Amazing thing about computer models. They can be made to reflect any result you want, including "global warming".

Now they are developing computer models to dispute the results of other computer models. When will it ever end?
Do any of these computer models include oxygen, The stuff we actually breathe? How about solar activity? Sun spots and solar flares, the constant fluctuations of our sun? Cloudy days vs clear sky days, and how they change the yearly temperatures both locally and globally? Variations of atmospheric humidity?
volcanic activity deep under the oceans which warm the waters?

The simple fact of the matter is, the weather is infinitely variable for a whole lot of reasons, and every one of them are beyond our control.

The plain FACT is, human activity has NO effect whatsoever on global temperature changes.
The entire human race is a mere spec on the face of the earth, an earth that at any time can release enormous amounts of energy that could wipe that spec off it's face.

And there's not a darn thing we can do about it. We are just along for the ride.

We need to put an end to this human caused "global warming" nonsense, and call it what it is, B.S.

Are there actually two volcanoes erupting in Chile now? I new about the one involving the big evacuation, but not the other one.
