The native Americans when the first colonists came here in the 1600s did not look chinese and they did not look european.

I think it was more heavily Mongol in heritage, but that’s just a matter of numbers and genetics.

I read an article a few years ago that stated that most of the “full blooded” members of “Indian” tribes common to the northeastern United States had some European DNA. I guess they were on to something.

I recall dating a young lady in college who was full-blooded Sioux Indian. She repeatedly told me that the Sioux were not related to other Indian tribes, and were in her words “genetically Caucasian.”

Being more concerned with the fact that she was quite good-looking and a lot of fun to be with, I paid very little mind to the veracity of her genetic claims - they made no difference to me.

I wonder now if her story had some truth to it.
