Obama oil plan may weaken emergency stockpile

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's plan to release oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve may lower crude and gasoline prices in the short term, but it could also leave the United States more vulnerable in a supply emergency.

Obama called this week for easing fuel prices by releasing some 70 million barrels of light, sweet crude from the nation's stockpile and swapping it for less expensive heavy, sour oil.

However, experts warn that, with less sweet oil in the reserve, it may be more difficult for the United States to counter a major disruption in petroleum supplies, like the one caused by Hurricane Katrina. Or that could happen if a big foreign oil supplier cut off shipments to the U.S. market.

More evidence, that Obama doesn't care what happens to the US, he is willing to pander, to help his election chances, even if that will hurt the US and makes us more vulnerable.

Is this kind of behavior what we want in a PRESIDENT of the US, who is supposed to protect us?

More proof that Obamy hasn’t got a clue about anything.

What a stupid political stunt. Clinton raided the reserve to pander, now Obama wants to do the same thing. Obama reveals himself more and more every day as a dangerous incompetent.

We could also save some money by turning next year's seed corn into ethanol this winter.

Could? May?

Of course it would leave us more vulnerable. The current situation in Iran is exactly why we have a strategic reserve. Using those reserves while having a showdown with Iran is tantamount to sabatoging our country.

Sadly, it’s not just Obama who wants to do this. A good deal of the public also thinks it’s a good idea.

Yup. Three days supply worth.

The strategic preserve is for our military, not to address private sector market prices.

This guy is dumber than __________ (fill in the blank).

The price of oil has gone up because China has started a strategic reserve of its own to insure its life blood energy when Iran closes the straits.

And this incompetent fool Obama wants to be president.

Well, at least two of us understand this is a national security preserve.

Why politicans do not understand this is beyond belief.

You don’t need “experts” to come up with this - Obama’s plan is ridiculous. The amount in the reserve has to be replaced that he takes out, compounding the problem as the government would have to start taking part of the supply to put it back in. That reserve is there not for gas prices, but for keeping gas in the pump at all in an emergency.

Want to know why? The RNC and GOP are just as dumb as the public.

Why President Bush doesn't set this straight too, is mind boggling.

Military emergency. Ships, tanks, fighters and bombers don't run on air.

“Using those reserves while having a showdown with Iran is tantamount to sabatoging our country.”

A little-known, virtually non-covered speech BHO gave some time back was about pledging to disarm our country, “leading the world” in eliminating all (our) nuclear weapons. Rush L. has talked about it and played clips in the past.

This is just one more step in his plan to do as you said - sabotage this country. I think MOST people (media and fellow politicians in particular), for various reasons, give BHO WAY too much leeway, calling him naive, inexperienced, even stupid or ignorant.

In fact, he’s VERY intelligent and VERY diabolical. He has a large agenda - and he knows exactly where he wants to take America.

A place we must not, dare not, go.
