You know, it's rather funny sometimes how you may be sitting in front of the tube or watching the rain as it approaches and things fall into perspective like the proverbial lightbuld switching on.
In my case, it was the thunderstroke revelation that Lawyers don't lead. In fact, by and large, they can't lead. Their entire experience set prevents them from doing so.
Take a look at the Army, or any branch of service for that matter. Judge Advocates General (JAG) officers do not command operational troops (other than their little JAG detachments). Neither do Doctors or Chaplains. They are afforded the respect and proveldge of their rank, but do not lead troops.
Why is this? It is because their experience and training has not prepared them for that weighty task. The task of to making decisions based on the efficacise of the situation. JAG officers are purely advisors to the commander as to the legality of actions and armed conflict. That's it. They render opinions.
Now, let's extend this analogy into the political spectrum and the same tenets apply. As we can see from the Democrat leadership in congress (Most of whom are Lawyers) they do not lead. They render opinions and that's as far as any action goes.
Look at the Democrat presidential/VP candidates over the past 20 or so years and what do we find?
Bill Clinton: Lawyer Hillary Clinton: Lawyer John Kerry: Lawyer John Edwards: Lawyer Barack Obama: Lawyer Joe Biden: Lawyer Al Gore: Clown
Now, what about the Republicans:
Ronald Reagan: Not a Lawyer George Bush I: Not a Lawyer Dan Quayle: Lawyer (Ah well) George Bush II: Not a Lawyer Richard Cheney: Not a Lawyer John McCain: Not a Lawyer Sarah Palin: Not a Lawyer
Compare our country under each of the administrations and how they dealt with situations and you can see what I mean.
By extension, we know what to expect from more Lawyers in the whitehouse. Indecision, and leagalistic, nonsence.
Well, there it is.
oops, getting tired - buld = bulb...
need some sleep.
Boy do I agree. Whenever I talk to someone who has a legal degree, they have for some reason lost their common sense.
True. Tehy get wrapped up in their own little world of unreality.
in most cases...all attorneys do is bitch on people’s behalf. They spend their whole professional lives doing it. When they run for office..they do much of the same. The left is full of people that should have been attorneys for this reason. They never have to answer the right and wrong of a question...they only have to come up with angles that represent their constituents / clients. There is a place for this in society...but it isn’t in leadership roles for elected positions.
Well, perhaps Lawyer and clown are interchangeable terms......
I believe most of our Founding Fathers were lawyers, but they understood the Constitution and justice back then. There should be a moratorium on lawyers running for office, not forever, just until other occupations and professions have served.
Not really. Clowns will try to make you laugh, lawyers will sue you for laughing at them.
I’m a lawyer ... and I agree with you completely. It’s a cliche in the profession that lawyers are poor managers. (It’s a cliche because it’s true.)
I’ve had the same experience in my business and personal life. Many lawyers pick things apart rather than lead with confidence and thoughtful consideration. Some have the ability to come up with agreements in which nobody is happy and justice isn’t served. Everyone but the lawyers is burned out on the process, and somehow can tolerate the solution enough to get on with life. It’s certainly not work that I’d find satisfying. I’ve met very few lawyers whom I’d trust to lead any enterprise.
The Dems had a big conspiracy to overthrow the Man, and gathered together in a mob. "First thing we do, we'll all become lawyers!", a demagogue shouted.
If you had to pick one profession to run your country, the last one I’d pick is the one America has picked to run Congress and, more of late, the White House. How come we never hear demagoguery against Big Law?
YEP...I’ve been thinking this all day.....the LAST thing we need are TWO lawyers running this country.....(Obama/Biden). I used to do lots of interviewing.....everytime I interviewed people who worked in law offices....they were NOT happy with the lawyer MANAGEMENT....Attorney firms (I’ve heard) are notoriously bad at management - they don’t follow rules, and, are, well...you figure it out....A*******
You do know the reason for the Jury in the Courtroom, don’t you?
If you took all of the lawyers and laid them end-to-end they still wouldn’t reach a decision !!
“If you took all of the lawyers and laid them end-to-end they still wouldnt reach a decision !!”
They thrive on blather and indecision - very self-serving when one looks at it from a “Billing for time” angle.
