Yakker Jim Braude in ‘international incident’ (Lib Boston Talk Show Host)

Yakker Jim Braude in ‘international incident’ Hits traffic snarl-up tickets By Jessica Heslam Thursday, November 13, 2008 - State police say he nearly caused an “international incident” when British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was in Boston, but NECN host and WTKK yakker Jim Braude is taking his traffic citation before a judge later this month.

The prime minister was leaving the JFK Library and heading to Cambridge last April when Braude and his black SUV pulled a big no-no and nearly drove head-on into the dignitary’s escort.

Brown - who had more security than the president’s Hub visit - was being driven in a full-armored limo. Snipers were on rooftops. A state police helicopter hovered above. Two dozen police motorcycles were on site, as well as the Secret Service’s terrorist reaction team, dressed in full-black battle gear and toting MP5 machine guns.

State police Sgt. Steven Godfrey said he was at his post for two minutes when his lieutenant radioed that the escort was leaving the library. It was then that Godfrey heard a “car horn blaring” and saw a black SUV “traveling northbound in the southbound lane” on Morrissey Boulevard.

Godfrey then saw the SUV making an illegal U-turn.

“I don’t know whether this is a terrorist or an aggravated driver,” Godfrey recalled yesterday. “Had they continued to go all the way around the U-turn . . . they would have been heading in the direction that the escort was coming.”

Godfrey said he ran into the roadway, arms flailing and yelling, to get the driver’s attention.

“This was a potential life-and-death situation for this person and/or one of us,” Godfrey said. “Had he continued to drive in toward the escort, he could have put his life in peril. He could have been shot. The Secret Service doesn’t take this stuff lightly.”

The driver, who turned out to be Braude, pulled over and began yelling at Godfrey out the window, according to the sergeant.

“You people don’t know what you’re doing,” Braude said, according to Godfrey. “You people are screwing up traffic. There’s people that need to get places. I demand to know what’s going on.”

(Braude said he never demanded anything.)

Godfrey told him the “only demand that would be met” was his demand for Braude’s license and registration. Godfrey mailed Braude a citation for wrongway operation and illegal U-turn.

“This was a situation that could have become an international incident,” said Godfrey, a 20-year veteran of the force who didn’t know the media personality. “This guy just had that demeanor of entitlement.”

Braude requested a clerk’s hearing and rejected a deal of being found guilty on one offense. He goes before a Dorchester District Court judge Nov. 25.

Braude said yesterday that he’s been advised by an attorney to tell his version of events to a judge, but he did say this: “The cop who stopped me deserves to be in the Guinness Book of World Records for having dropped more F-bombs on a detainee in a shorter period of time than any other cop in history.”

Braude, who was leaving WTKK-FM (96.9) when he was stopped, has talked about the incident on his radio show. He quipped that co-host Margery Eagan - who was behind him that day in traffic - may be called as a “hostile” witness.

“My hope,” Braude says, “was to be remembered as the Rosa Parks of traffic citations.”

Jim Braude is a huge tool.
I went to a state college for 1 year and he came to speak about how MA is under taxed and everyone in MA should be taxed at 100% and evil business, blah blah blah.
When I saw the nitwits that followed him around, I transfered out to a small private school in Boston.
He is such a cliche liberal. Corduroy suit, knit tie, etc...

Braude is an unbelievable fool. He is painful to listen to — his first thought, middle thought, and last thought is that more Government is the solution.

Well he should be HAPPY to pay this ticket, then.

It’s just an example of more government in action.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noted that since The Messiah was elected the local Libs have become even more insufferable?

First, you have to realize that they started at a high baseline level. Then you add the double whammy of the Red Sox winning it all and their pompous Jr. Senator being the Democrat nominee for president in ‘04. Add in their self-congratulation over having elected Deval Patrick as their governor in ‘06—and really the Obama thing was just tossing another match onto an already roaring bonfire of insufferability!

My wife has a friend who is very Liberal. I carefully avoid politics with her, and she can generally be a nice person. Over the past couple weeks, my wife has had incident after incident with her. She says that her friend has become argumentative, bullying, and opinionated on absolutely everything, and just demands to get her way 100% of the time.

Maybe there's other stuff going on in her life, but my opinion is that this woman now considers herself to be part of the Ruling Class and we're just peasants.

Delusions of grandeur....

>>My hope,” Braude says, “was to be remembered as the Rosa Parks of traffic citations.”

Insufferably arrogant, he’s quite the piece of work.

He’s lucky to be alive.

>.“My hope,” Braude says, “was to be remembered as the Rosa Parks of traffic citations.”

Delusions of grandeur, even though he probably said it tongue in cheek.

He is insufferably arrogant, the very epitomy of a knowitall, talking down to the proles.

All in all, he’s lucky to be alive. Cases like this, protection of the VIP is sacrosanct.

When I saw the nitwits that followed him around, I transfered out to a small private school in Boston.

I heckled him at a debate in Framingham. The debate was between him and Barbara Anderson regarding Prop 2-1/2. I was especially PO'd because he came in with his Framingham State entourage of about 25, mostly female, brain-addled youth.

I called him a carpetbagger. OK, it was lame, but in retrospect, I feel pretty good about it.

I occassionally listen to this left wing nutjob’s radio show. He is as vapid and dumb as they come. He “feels” things. I like his quotes in this article too. A clueless Boston Democrat.

“My hope,” Braude says, “was to be remembered as the Rosa Parks of traffic citations.”

Braude (over 50 Bostonian, white, tv/radio media, ex-city councilor?) citing Rosa Parks while in a black SUV ... over what has been “reduced to a traffic citation”.

How many potential violations are involved here? (political party dependent of course) (and don’t forget the environment)

Jim “The Red (as in Communist”) Braude is lucky he wasn’t whacked. He is lucky the people providing security didn’t know what they were doing. If they did, they would have performed a public service for the people of Massghanistan.
