I hope you're right.

But the Dems' strategy lately has been to blast the airwaves with lies for 2 months straight before Nov. 4.

They may suffer in popularity for months, but they know they can rise up through the pounding of their hate-hype for a concerted period of time. ("Repeat a lie often enough, etc....")

Happened with Bush's DUI, Mark Foley, Sarah Palin, etc.

IMO they have a team already planning the next onslaught for just about Sept 1. '10 or so to make sure they hold the Congress.

Again, hope I'm wrong and you're right.

I think the problem is much, much deeper.

Democrats are guilty as hell, but I don't see the Republicans as being much better.

Personally, on economic issues, I don't think either party is in control. We have a permanent, non-partisan faction that controls the massive Federal government today, and they pull the strings to insure that they perpetuate their own existence.

I think that at the higher levels, government has become its own industry and like any private business, will do what is necessary to raise revenues and increase market share year-over-year.

Unlike private business however, they use the force of law as their primary marketing tool.

As much as I love Ronald Reagan, even he did not shrink the government. At best he was just a speed bump to the growth of the monster. Since him, no one else has even attempted to slow them down.

IMHO, our Republic is in danger of becoming powerless to the permanent government bureaucracy who call all the shots.

If we are to break this cycle, I think Constitutional Conservatives have to start thinking differently and not fixate on the partisan aspects.

I don't know what the answer is, but the Newt Gingrich tactic of 'slowing the growth' of government sure as hell didn't work.

Maybe we need to let it crash and burn and start all over.

Either way, my kids and grand kids are in for some rough sledding, but hopefully, they will be able to enjoy that almost forgotten concept called liberty on their ride. My grandparents had a rough ride too, but they loved the liberty part of it.
