Gingrich Warns of Conservative 3rd Party in 2012

Friday, April 3, 2009 8:53 AM

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warns that conservatives could leave the GOP and form a third party in 2012 if Republicans don’t do more to rein in government spending.

“If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right wing party of big government, then I think you would see a third party movement in 2012, Gingrich said during an address to students at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri.

We argue quite a bit on these pages about thrd party stuff. Gingrich, I'm sure is voicing what he is actually hearing and sensing.

Those who are diehard Republican and want to preserve the GOP will have to do more than chat and post to FR and other such sites. They are going to have to ivolve themselves in extensive letter-writing, door-knocking, and organizing to bring the Party back to its roots.

I, for one among many, believe that the upper crust of the GOP needs a scare. They need to be forced to feel that they and the whole party can be replaced.

No, they and the whole party actually need to be replaced.

Wonder if Newt has anyone in mind to be the nominee of this Conservative Party?

As a lifelong conservative and a 40+ year Republican, I haven’t given up on the GOP yet.

But its getting close.

I'll sure consider a 3rd party move, if the party High Poobahs don't shape up, SOON!

Continuing the way they are going, and then making promises of change just before an election, WILL NOT work with me.

With all due apologies to Michael Medved, I believe the timing will be ripe for a conservative third party. The RINO party will continue to move towards the left to appease the demoncrats. Problme is that this might end up giving the Demoncraps the WH again. Someone needs to take the reins of the republican party before this country is flushed down the toilet by the Demoncraps.

They won’t listen. They don’t care. They don’t have to; we’ve seen to that!

BUT...I’m starting locally, and I advise anyone that listens to do the same. I’m working on local campaigns right now. We’re going to get a new County Executive, get all the smelly hippies OFF of our County Board, and we’re going to get rid of our very own ‘Ruth Bader Ginsburg’ judge (Shirley Abrahamson) if I have anything to say about it come April 7th.

The current ‘Poser in Chief’ that we’ve got? Why, just a few short years ago, he was merely a Community Organizer!

A more effective approach will be slow and steady to win the race for years to come.

Start locally, and move those people up nationally as they earn it. Concentrate on grooming our GOVERNORS for higher office; we have some very, very good ones in place right now.

It completely AMAZES me that the simple things I learned in the Army through the years about Command and Control and Promotions and LEADERSHIP completely escape the GOP we have these days. But, they escape most people I deal with day in and day out. *SHRUG*

Michael Steele? *SPIT* Let’s get real.

This Nation was founded by people no more important or smart or wealthy than we are. Let’s get back to basics.

Well, I can dream, can’t I? ;)

A strong conservative party will depend on the right leader.

Gingrich? Maybe he’s testing the waters with this “warning”.

We are going to have to be careful in choosing our new “Leader of the Conservatives”; if the bad guys put in a charismatic sleeper we are doomed.

But how does one vet a “conservative leader”?

Newt at least has the Contract With America on his resume.

I appreciate Newt’s celebrity status and Beltway “gravitas” on the issue, but it’s very likely that Newt is in it for himself, not for advancing Conservatism.

If the GOP lets the New York Times pick our candidate again in 2012, you're damn straight I'll support a third party candidate.

Of course, there may not be a New York Times in 2012...

I think it would be more accurate to describe it as a second party.

With his cave-in on global warming and the fact that he has the morals of a depraved alley-cat, that would be pretty funny.

You have the Democrat Party as a whole

Then the Republican Party and a third party

Yeah that will work...NOT
Unless you want to loose to the Democrats.

The upper crust of the GOP needs to GET OUT of the GOP.

Those crusty old blue blooded, elitist, liberal dinosaurs are irrelevant elephants and are impeding the path that we need to take our nation.
