Even if another country buys it just the same, we should not buy it for symbolism reasons.
Not to mention we have more than enough in the ever increasing wells in our own ground.
Even more under the waters we control.
GWB was even more than a coward, but the word does start with a c (no, not that one, but now that you mentioned it , ok).
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Yep. I went to the VW dealership yesterday and I might go home with a Jetta 1.8T to Passat 2.5 trade this week. German cars are rock solid. I won't even rent a GM product.
Well I guess unemployment will go up, too, because there will be lots of people in this country not getting to work without 4WD.
Please do not compare Obama to Hitler. Mussolini is a much more apt model, even in their poses during a speech.
This is war on the poor, as usual.
Yeah, I wonder how long we’ll be able to keep our beloved old cars before they take them away and give us Obamacarts.
0bama voters, no doubt.
Where the hell did you ever get that idea? The two-ton cars of the 40's and 50's were death traps compared to a one-ton Honda of today. Volvo? Mercedes? Extremely safe, yet not "heavy."
....but safety is also proportional to the engineering
Extreme and rare example,: a Corvette or Lotus Elan, which absorbing all the energy of the crash when their plastic bodies shatter, allows the driver to walk away unscathed.
Looking for Danger? Mix traffic with high-bumper SUV's, 18 wheelers, and pick-ups on the road with lower passenger vehicles. An 18-wheeler is going to have more trouble flattening an SUV than a Honda Civic, but there's a good chance the number of dead will be equal.
Americans DO NOT know how to drive. They are rude, and careless and reckless.
Unfortunately, compared to the Vaterland, we Yanks ARE horrible drivers. OTOH, when they do have an accident in Wurstland, everybody dies, especially on the Autobahn! But in accidents and deaths per mile driven, we are way down in the international rankings, not the least reason being the amazing prevalence of drunks operating motor vehicles in this country.
We'll see how this changes as Achmed and Fatima (and the other wives) pack the 12 children into the old Opel and set out on the Autobahn. Especially if they dumb down the license requirements so as not to discriminate against the Turd Worlders overrunning Europe.
And the Magic Marxist is also adopting the Fascist Corporate State economic model, attempting the same semi-command economy of Fascism.
The difference is that Obama has a lot more money at his disposal than silly old Musso ever did! Just be grateful that Obama isn't copying his hats!
I said all else being equal, that means the engineering. Both the Smart and the S600 are very safely engineered by Mercedes, but the S600 will generally win with its greater mass. OTOH, the Smart is safer than many modern cars that have more mass because of the superior safety engineering.
(A) Your estimate is very conservative. Check it out.
(B) What's your plan, leave OUR oil and gas in the ground?
(C) The world will run on oil for the next 150 years, because it is cheap, clean, and in superabundant supply. We'll "wean off" it slowly, because:
(D)It will take a long time to find the "alternative energy" sources the Green Weenies incessantly prattle on about, never mind replace the oil infrastructure.
(E) It is generally agreed that there is plenty of oil, and that our particular American bottleneck is refining capacity.
(F) Increasing American oil output and refining will have a moderating effect on world prices.
(G) Yes, GW failed miserably in regard to encouraging more domestic production and developing a sane OIL (not "Energy") policy.
(H) Right now, there is a glut of oil on the market and demand is down. The question one should ask is. "WTF is making the price rise?"
The uniqueness of the US lies in its ability to innovate, not the unrestricted exploitation of limited natural resources.
It ain't unrestricted exploitation which is an emotionally charged Green Weenie attitude. We're looking for smart management. Sure we're always going to import oil, what the hell else would the goat-buggering Worthy Oriental Gentlemen we buy it from, do with it? (And you know, new finds over the past 2 or 3 years in Northern Iraq, Oman, Yemen and Saudi Arabia have more than DOUBLED their "known reserves.") The problem is to keep'em honest as possible. They know they get a better deal from us than they'll get from anyone else. Indians? Chinese? They got Russki Oil, of which there is also a glut!
In spite of the impeccable logic of the above, the MSM will yawn. They wouldn't have yawned if Bush had forced an increased in the weight of a car by a thousand pounds - they would have been screaming about that. That's NOT part of their agenda. But this - heavy handed as it is - and totally unworkable - they'll give a pass to..
Yet another liberal troll trying to tell us how they do it in EU and crying out that Bozo is doing the right thing! Bozo and the boys need to stay out of business, they need to taken to court and the SC needs to bring all this unconstitutional sh** to an end. The government needs to get out of the environment business also and we need to use the natural resources we have here in the US. GWB didn't rape the constitution the way Bozo is doing but that didn't make him a coward.
” Ok, you call me a Troll but let me ask you some fuzzy math: The US has 22 billion barrels of proven reserves. That amounts to 4 years of total US consumption. If there are 3 times as much oil as estimted that means there are 12 years of reserves left. So how does that make the US oil independent? Stop being a stupid member of the stupid party and face reality. Cheap gas is not a fundamental American value. The uniqueness of the US lies in its ability to innovate, not the unrestricted exploitation of limited natural resources.
The real TROLLS and bains of conservatives are those who do not wish to see the world for what it is and only wish to see it for what they want it to be. Santa Claus isn’t real my FRiend and the oil you buy funds the terrorists who want to kill you.”
This is about the dumbest post I’ve ever read, hope I’m not repeating something already posted because I didn’t make it to the bottom of this thread.
We have oil off the CA coast that actually spoils the beaches, tons of fuel in the upper Appalachians, oil fields off the east coast we can’t explore and then there’s that huge field in nowhere called ANWR.
I cannot fathom how dumb you are, it reminds me of the Brits who saved a plover, healed it, set it free and it flew a little and landed on the water. One bite and a pike ate it.
Good intentions do not equal good results.
You are dumber than dog stuff.
Zou call me dumb, yet have posted no numbers to back up your claims. You just make statements and then use ad hominem. Show me the number pal. How many barrels you got?
“Show me the number pal. How many barrels you got?”
Right, like I keep barrels of oil around. When I bought Exxon stock back in the early ‘80s, BEFORE they found oil refilling their “tapped out fields” I had 1700 barrels per share.
You probably won’t be able to respond because if you haven’t been banned as a self admitted troll the moderators aren’t doing their job.
Just for the sake of clarity, I was not asking what your stock portfolio was, but rather your figures - since you said mine were off and pessimistic even though I tripled the stated proven reserves in that the US says it has. You said I was wrong, but posted no numbers. It really isn't that hard to do a wee bit a research on google.
I called your bluff and you admit you have no clue. Now go away. Opinions about energy policy are not grounds for banning. Your continued presence also makes it clear that brainless batnering without anything to back it up also is not.
