He sounds great! This country needs more of him, like one in every district for the House, and two from each state for the Senate!

Granted we do have a few I would like to see stay, but just a few!

You’re thinking of Stormy Daniels, and she’s thinking of running, but hasn’t decided what party she’ll be a member of.

Most likely the "bachelor party."

Yeah, that tomcatting is sure going to help him get re-elected. Get rid of the pantywaist and start over.

My first reaction is to swoon and say YEAH! But that’s just based on the way he performed during Katrina.

Yep, that's pretty thin, isn't it? Sure, it's enough for some here who are eager to throw Vitter under the bus - but right now, Honore is a political unknown. Outside of the New Orleans area and those who followed every minute of Katrina news coverage, nobody knows much about the man.

I'm not even sure he lives in Louisiana at this time; last I heard he was residing near Atlanta.

Although I *hope* the General is a conservative, I'd have to consider the possibility that he's a stalking horse for Melancon.

Vitter's (local) extramarital activities were known before he ran for John Breaux's senate seat.

I read his (Honore) book over the summer and he came across in the book as a liberal republican/conservative democrat type. It should be an interesting race and debate.

He grew up very poor but he has a very strong work ethic. He had a very interesting perspective on the situation in NOLA after Katrina. He really identified with the poor folks that he was charged with rescuing because of his personal background and that may be one reason he was so successful there but he also had the courage to criticize some of their failures and what went wrong in the local and federal govts. To me, he came across as a conservative Bill Cosby/John McCain type.

My only hesitation would be with how he would vote on some social programs issues in the Washington DC environment.

Sorry! His book is called-- Survival: How a Culture of Preparedness Can Save America and You from Disasters.

I'd recommend reading it to get a better picture of who he is he does into quite a bit of detail about his personal life and career.

Exactly. We know Vitter’s record. I can’t support tossing out one of our best-voting Senators when we don’t even know how Gen. Honoré is going to vote. He could turn out to be Powell, Redux.

You just demonstrated my worries perfectly. There’s already too many liberal RINOs in the Senate. Dumping Vitter only on a “guess” or presumption as to Honoré’s potential voting record is insane and “stuck on stupid.”

I admire Honore enormously but will stick with Vitter. Could change.

don’t be too quick. Then MG Caldwell, CG of the 82d, did most of the Title 10 good works.

LTG (ret) Honore just ran around screaming w/o purpose. It made for good TV, but accomplished very little.

Anyone here from the USS Iwo Jima remember the CO almost kicking him off the ship?

That's Honore for ya. He's a screamer. His leadership style is to scream at and bully people.

If I lived in LA, I wouldn't vote for him.

A lot conservatives in FL were excited about a conservative Cuban by the name of Mel Martinez in 2004.

Gen. Russell Honore could be another Martinez. Lets see him bash Obama on policy but jumping on his bandwagon. It coudl be that Gen. Honore could be digusted with cosnervatives attacking the firt Black President that he might turn into another Uber-RINO.

You could change or Vitter could change?

Sorry, but that is the problem...WE ALL think the majority of the politicians are crooked or whatever EXCEPT our own.
That is why the same slugs keep getting sent back to Washington.
If the message got out that voters will vote in the primaries etc the pols would start worrying. As of now they think you will vote for them just because the R is behind their name and you will NOT vote rather than vote for a D.

Have to start running people against the incumbents then support them through the election.

Things will never change if WE don’t.....

Honore seems cool, but he is not a Republican/Conservative.

Trust me, he will be loyal to the NAACP, Obama, and blacks only. He is an identity politics kind of guy, I have seen him interviewed many times on CNN.

Unfortunately, blacks still believe that the Democrat party is their path to a successful life, they still believe they need government. Even after 50 years of evidence to the contrary. They are unreachable as a whole.

Why doesn't he just run for Mayor?

No, but in the sense of ‘change’ the new guy has to get a shot. If they can possibly be worse than what we have you get rid of him again. It will take a while but when these people start realizing they are being held accountable because they aren’t serving their constituents the word gets around...couple of states start it and it spreads like wildfire.
Not trying to ‘beat a dead horse’ but aren’t you ‘tired’ of seeing if the same old same old will change?
We just finished almost 50 years of Kennedy from Mass and Lord knows how long Kerry will last, but unless they resign, the same trash keeps coming back, getting elected by those they DON’T serve.
If your party refuses to change candidates, just hold your nose and vote the other side, unless of course it is an incumbent but two incumbents don’t run against each other.

We disagree and before I give the new guy a shot over a reliaable republican, I have to know about him.

I can agree with your statement etc but you are answering the question in regards to the whole problem.
:”My Congressman, Senator(s) are fine, it is the rest of them that are messed up”.
As long as that attitude prevails we are stuck with what we have. You surely don’t think they will pass ‘term limits’ resolutions do you?
They will with about the same frequency that they DON’T vote on their own COLA raise.
Guarantee if they pass the NO COLA for Soc Sec etc, they will either be gone or vote against their own COLA raise.
It will be interesting to see what happens here.
