Obama: We Need To Bail Out Newspapers Or Blogs Will Run The World
Silicon Alley Insider ^ | 09-21-09 | Yael Bizouati

Obama yesterday expressed concern at the sorry state of the news industry and said that he will look at a news paper bailout, because otherwise, blogs will take over the world, and that would be a threat to democracy, The Hill reports.

"I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context, that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding," he said.

There is a serious problem with "reporters" vs. "journalists" and the fact that both seem to call their output "stories".

What we need is some actual reporting of facts. We have less need of people "telling stories" and are cool with all sorts of analysis labeled as such.

And government’s Constitutional authority to propagandize the population comes exactly from where?

I guess he wants to make it official that the media really is state run, just like Rush says.

Exactly what will happen with government control of the economy.

We’d still be riding in horse drawn carriages.

He can’t fathom that maybe newspapers need to migrate to the Internet/blog format.

It’s none of his damn business, and it’s stealing. Most of the papers are his liberal cronies so your money is going to bail them out. How much free speech can you expect from a government owned newspaper?

If papers weren’t written with a preordained agenda put forth by a liberal editorial board. And maybe were say, honest. You know, put forth a reasonable product, they could hack it.

Who are they kidding? As if the newspapers ever do “serious fact checking”.

Just look at their faulure to vet the candidates in 2008.

Last Spring I posted about how I thought Obambi would bail out newspapers if he got into office.

They are every bit as crucial to liberal propaganda as Tass was to the Soviets. The Kenyan understands that and will do everything in his power to keep his Ministry of Disinformation viable.

Actually, the Bloggers are the ones who are putting things into perspective, who are digging for the facts, who are reporting more than just what the ratings and the Obama Administration dictate.

Even on Twitter...last week #acorn was a trending topics for several days, right up there with #kanyewest and helped to keep the story alive. YouTube videos of Town Hall Meetings are showing the hypocrisy of the Ostrich Media.

They have turned in their journalism badges and have become entertainment broadcasts.
