Palestinian Leaders Deny Jerusalem's Past
Wall Street Journal ^ | 9/24/09 | BARI WEISS

Posted on 09/24/2009 10:29:21 PM PDT by Nachum

Jews have no history in the city of Jerusalem: They have never lived there, the Temple never existed, and Israeli archaeologists have admitted as much. Those who deny this are simply liars. Or so says Sheik Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, chief Islamic judge of the Palestinian Authority.

His claims, made last month, would be laughable if they weren't so common among Palestinians. Sheik Tamimi is only the latest to insist that, in his words, Jerusalem is solely "an Arab and Islamic city and it has always been so." His comments come on the heels of those by Shamekh Alawneh, a lecturer in modern history at Al Quds University. On an Aug. 11 PA television program, "Jerusalem—History and Culture," Mr. Alawneh argued that the Jews invented their connection to Jerusalem. "It has no historical roots," he said, adding that the Jews are engaging in "an attack on history, theft of culture, falsification of facts, erasure of the truth, and Judaization of the place."

So anything that predates 600AD must be fake.

Funny because I just saw a program on a local religion channel about this very same thing, the speaker showed a traveler's pamphlet from about 1950 and it described that the Western Wall was part of King Solomon's Temple, before that he showed a statment from the very same organization (some Arab Historical society) made recently how the Jews made up their history.

Oy! Arabs are one of the few peoples in our world who lie to themselves, and believe those lies!

How pathetic a people.

Sounds like wishful thinking on the part of this typical anti-semite idiot. Deny, deny, deny....and continue to make truth your enemy...while embracing the evil that IS Islam. God will correct your errors some day and I wouldn’t want to be in YOUR shoes when that day comes.

For a good laugh go to youtube and see some of the videos from MEMRI, they include: Flat Earthers, Neil Armstrong heard the Islam call to Prayer on the Moon and calculated Mecca as the center of the Earth, Every consumer product is Jewish, Not to mention all the vile anti-woman material and you can also see Palestine’s answer to Micky Mouse (who sadly was murdered by a Jew)

Joan Peters wrote a book years ago called “From Time Immemorial”. She started her research in order to tell the world about the horrors the Palestinian people had experienced.

Her book instead became a vindication for Isreal and the Jewish people. Miss Peters found the truth, a very rare commodity in our world today. It will gladden your heart as well as educate your mind.

She hired researchers from all over the world to uncover the truth about what had happenned to the Jewish people over millenia, and how the hatred of Jews by Arabs goes back millenia.

If you have never read her book, you should. I’m an art historian and thought I knew a great deal about the Mideast. But she brought new facts to light, facts that Arab nations would like to bury.

I don’t think the issue is about if the Jews existed in Palistine. The question is if most of them left after 70 AD can they come back and displace the people (Palistinians) living there in 1948???? There lies the root of the conflict. Yes, there was a Jewish quarter in Jerusalem centuries before 1948, but the majority of the people who settled in Palistine after the Jews were carried off by the Romans were not Jews. You cannot tell people living in Palistine for 2300 years to move aside for the Jews returning from a Holocaust. To argue that because there was a surviving enclave of Jews who never left since 70 AD till 1948, the Jews from Europe can now take all of Palistine for themselves is like the Chinese one hundred years from now claiming New York City and San Francisco from the US because there is evidence of a Chinatown for over a century.

The Jews were given basically junk land in 1948, it was because of wars that they got the West Bank, Golan, Sinai, and Gaza. The land was never really a country and always under foreign rule.

Does this mean the Turks should vacate Istanbul? The United States return Texas to Mexico? Give Guam back to Spain?

Why don’t we stick to the issue about making claims on a piece of land that was abandoned for 2000 years and the consequences of supporting the claim without carefully thinking out the process like what do you do with the people who are living there??? Nobody asked the Palistinians if they care, and no one thought what would happen if we ignored them? I think we already have the answer. If this issue had been properly decided, we would not be wondering if the Palistinian who left or fled in 1948 have the right to come back and reclaim his land/house in Isreal. One thing I learn from studying history, you do not mistreat people because today they are backwards and powerless, because in the future they may not be backwards and powerless and will come after you for past wrongs.

No, because Mexico signed a treaty that recognizes the new US Mexican border. Spain did the same for Guam, and Turkey did the same after the Turkish Greek Wars and the Balkan Wars. The problem with Israel is the Palistinians never agreed to this arrangement. Now backed by Iran, Syria and jihadist movement, plus weapons from China, Iran, Russia and others, the Palistinians are going for the military solution via rocket bombardment and asymmetric warfare. Short of Christ’s return, Israel is losing the war and with it the fate of the Jews within it. A fate that should not have been if the US did not support the formation of a Jewish state in the Middle East, a state that can only survive if the surrounding Arabs remain backwards and powerless forever.

So from 70 AD to 1948 AD the Palistinians just lived like Mad Max society??!!!! Palistine historically from Rome thru the Ottoman Empire served as the transition point for trade between the Euphrates and Egypt. Goods from Persian/Indus civilizations move thru Baghdad, up the Euphrates and travels over land thru Syria where it goes to the Lebanese ports or heads along the coast southward thru Palistine to Egypt. Palistine has cities developed to support commerce, farming, and etc. It is not some dry uninhabitated bad lands with no government. Palistine is a strategic choke point for commerce. If any nation took it, the Ottoman economy is chopped up because Egypt (bread basket since the Roman Empire) would be cut off from the rest of the Ottoman Empire. Palistine is not a wayward province left neglected and undeveloped. The people of Palistine are economically, socially and geographically distinct from the Egyptians, Syrians and to an extent the Jordanians even they all spoke Arabic. If they are not distinct, then Arafat would not have been able to rally them or they would disappear and become part of any Arab nation.
