It’s interesting when the President of France wants to see results with Iran and North Korea more than Zero.

Also, something that Goldwater wrote in 1960:

“Students of history have always recognized that armament races are a symptom of international friction—not a cause of it. Peace has never been achieved, and it will not in our time, by rival nations suddenly deciding to turn their swords into plowshares. No nation in its right mind will give up the means of defending itself without first making sure that hostile powers are no longer in a position to threaten it.”
-From Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater

Seems prophetic of our time, doesn’t it?

If you’re a conservative for strong national defense,
you view yourself as a person who is for strong national defense because it makes sense. There is no personal moral feeling associated with it.

If you’re a liberal and are “anti-war” and support disarmament in the pursuit of a “war free” world,
you view yourself as a morally superior person, and
your conservative counterparts as morally inferior (evil)
because they obviously want to kill people with these weapons.

Getting the left to “see the light” would require removing one of their bases of “self worth”. That’s why logic never seems to work.
