The WaPo has a contest to find its next opinion writer. What better way for many of you FReepers to make your voices heard, much more than it's heard on FR.

Read the instructions at the link, write you essay and submit to the contest. Entries must be received by Oct. 21, 2009 at 2359.

Yeah, like I believe that coming from the compost.

Please do! I have learned so much from you all in reading these threads—the breadth of opinions and summations on topics. One truly gets all sides of an argument by coming to FR. I know we have a ton great, thoughtful writers so please ping any fellow FReepers who might be interested.

Hey, at least they’re making the effort. If any paper needs a conservative perspective, it’s these guys.

Would the WaPost lie to you? I assume it's just a coincidence that all their current pundits are anti-Americans ranging from socialist to communist. That doesn't mean that they don't judge style, intelligence and freshness of argument in a non-partisan manner.

Now if that came from the NY Times, maybe I’d believe it. LOL (sarcasm)

Yeah, it's just a fluke there are none published there, just shills employed by random chance.

Yeah, it's just me, I'm not an intellectual, I just don't understand the egalitarian superiority of the enlightened elite.

You forgot the variations on the following boiler plate:

Bush Sucks!! It (what ever "it" is) is all BUSH'S FAULT. Bush Lied, People Died. Chimpy Bushitler. Worst President ever. 0bama inherited this mess, so there's not much he can do for a while to sort it out.

Republicans are evil, vicious monsters with long, sharp, broken, dripping teeth who kill and eat the poor as often as they are able. Democrats are beautiful, kind, caring creatures, with long, soft flowing hair and not a harsh bone in their bodies, although it's rumored that some of them say hard words like "doggone it".

I can paint some fancy language around those basic themes to make it sound different every day. Do I get the job?

“Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who submits an Entry (or a Challenge Submission) which Sponsor believes may be defamatory, obscene, profane, offensive, harassing, inappropriate or that may infringe upon or violate another party’s rights.”

That’s odd....the WP doesn’t worry about those kind of things when they are writing smear pieces about Sarah Palin or any other republican they deem unworthy of humanity. (eye roll)

That is a very odd disclaimer. I wonder if anyone proof-read this copy before posting it?
