Back in 2007, the National Intelligence Estimate was released which all but absolved Iran of suspicions that it was on course to develop nuclear weapons. Rich Lowry writes
In November 2007, US intelligence agencies wrote a National Intelligence Estimate concluding, "We judge with high confidence that in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program." . .
The 2007 NIE had a very circumscribed definition of a weapons program, but it included "covert conversion-related and uranium enrichment-related work." Exactly what Qom is for. What do the Iranians have to do to convince US intelligence they have a weapons program?
The report was widely criticized by even the Europeans. Nevertheless, it gave cover to liberals - including Barack Obama - to downplay the threat from Iran. Now we know that the "secret" enrichment plant at Qom was already known by the intelligence community when the 2007 report was drafted. The report never made mention of that plant, nor seemed to give it any import in the conclusions. The NIE was also criticized as being a hyper-partisan document whose drafting was done by three men who opposed a firm stance towards Iran and had an axe to grind - not with Iran-but with George Bush.

Was the CIA lying then or now or both times?
It did no such thing, that was only the spin placed upon it by the democrat/socialist media. What it did say quite clearly was that Iran could build a nuclear weapon within 2-5 years, a window we are now entering.
Since the principals were associated with the State Department, it's clear that they spoke with forked tongues then and now.
Still working on their book deals.
With the CIA, anything is possible (likely telling lies all around).
That is, the authors were saying that Iran was, at that time, pausing before taking the final step; not abandoning the overall process. They were, nevertheless, wrong.
Woo woo woo woo woo woo. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
Why insult Moe, Larry and Shemp?
Another steaming pile from the striped pants crowd at Foggy Bottom.
I would like to see these 3 publicly humiliated - either for outright stupidity, or more likely, for playing pure politics with their Civil Servant positions.
The list, ping
