Army: Serious Concerns About Lifting Gay Ban Top general raises doubts about immediate overturn of 'don't ask don't tell'
Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey told a Senate committee Tuesday he doesn't know how a repeal of the military's "don't ask don't tell" policy will impact troops' "readiness and effectiveness."
Feb. 23, 2010 WASHINGTON - The Army's top uniformed officer said Tuesday that he has "serious concerns" about overturning a 17-year policy that bans gays from serving openly in the military and supports a yearlong study into the matter before any changes are made.
The carefully crafted comments by Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey to the Senate Armed Services Committee indicate reluctance by some within the military's senior ranks to President Barack Obama's plan to repeal "don't ask, don't tell."
Obama says the policy is wrongheaded and should change. Defense Secretary Robert Gates agrees but wants to move slowly, and has tasked a lengthy assessment on how to lift the ban without affecting the force.

And what should the policy be BO? That they can openly lisp? Openly cross dress? Openly have the women dyke's kick the gays butts? What must change POSBO?
I think simply introducing sexual politics into all levels of the military should weaken it sufficiently to further our Dear Leader’s goals.
barry says he wants....
This is friggin insane.
Rather than take the chance of causing morale to decrease even one iota, or causing any disruption whatsoever, gays should simply keep their sex disorders to themselves. If that's so emotionally difficult for them to deal with, oh well - tough s***.
You know, I’m just about to the point of saying: “To heck with it; let the gays go in the military and let the Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors handle it amongst themselves.” I think it might make for some great theater.
I was in the Air Force during the Viet Nam era, and I can tell you, when a gay dude made a move on a straight guy, it was ringside entertainment. One Captain was even shot and killed by an enlisted man when he woke up and found the Captain unzipping his pants and fondling him.
Barack Hussein knows nothing of what he speaks.
He is no "Commander in Chief".
Disregard what he says. Simple.
What Obama thinks doesn’t surprise me. I STILL BELIEVE LARRY SINCLAIR!!!
One reason why women have always been kept from war is, what does a nation do when it loses a generation of it’s child bearing young females in the killing fields of mass war?
You Navy people tell me if I’m right.
My Dad was a WWII S class sub skipper. Those were some tight quarters, no possible privacy. Modern subs are bigger, but the crews are larger. Mixing male and female crew would be dynamite waiting to explode.
“I had not read yet about the navy allowing women on subs what is the original reason for not letting them on subs? “
I’ll defer to those more knowledgeable.
I’d assume, you know, close quarters, and hazards.
From a doofus who has no idea what life in the military is like.
over turn this and you will see on base two men or women holding hands and kissing..
You will see homosexuals then take it to the next level and let it be known they are queer.
The whole problem list is endless but one thing is for sure . Overturning don’t ask does not bring any pro’s to it but certainly brings too many problems.
what an idiot he is and now he uses the military to put down morale and as a social experiment.
Well he's funding ACORN with 4 billion and cutting the military budget so maybe this is a first step in his million civilian security force to match that of the military and be as funded as the military.
I can't even see the biggest left wing nut saying their messiah is that educated or knowledgeable about international affairs or the military
In the Air Force? I've always been told that that sort of thing was more common in the Navy. Then again, the Naval/ex-Navy personal who I have mentioned this to will tell you that it is the Marines who engage in man-love at a higher frequency than the other branches.
In all seriousness, I do predict that, once this ban is lifted, lesbians will come to dominate the female population in the Navy.

Imho, the military can reasonably do one of two things.
1. Allow DADT to remain in place.
2. Reject/remove any homosexual candidates from military service.
you’re right {ssn-607)
