S.O.S. — Save Our (Navy) Seals
Investors.com ^ | March 5, 2010 | INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY Staff

Military: Two U.S. congressmen take the lead in proclaiming the obvious — that those who attack this country should be punished and not those who risk their lives to defend it.

The Navy SEALs are a special breed of patriot and warrior. This highly trained and select group — the best of the best — is a daily participant in the long twilight struggle against the enemies of freedom that President Kennedy warned us about.

Kennedy formally created the SEAL (sea, air, land) outfit as an elite force capable of combat operations in any environment. It was a team of Navy SEAL sharpshooters that killed three pirates who commandeered the American-flagged Maersk Alabama and held its captain hostage.

Last Sept. 3, Special Warfare Operators 2nd Class Matthew McCabe, from Perrysburg, Ohio, and Jonathan Keefe of Yorktown, Va., as well as Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Julio Huertas of Blue Island, Ill., were members of Navy SEAL Team 10 who were dropped into harm's way to capture a high-value target known as Objective Amber.

The mission to capture Ahmed Hashim Abed, the mastermind behind the killing, burning and mutilation of four American contractors working for Blackwater USA in Fallujah, Iraq, in March 2004 was a success.

But so skewed are our priorities these days, the three SEALs are facing court-martial because Abed claims McCabe punched him in the stomach while in custody.

This is a dreadful story. It makes me feel ashamed. What a disservice to those who protect us and put themselves between us and harm’s way.

Sarah Palin: Stand Up for SEALs Standing Up for Us

FaceBook ^ | March 05, 2010 | Sarah Palin

First the Obama Administration opened up the possibility of prosecuting CIA interrogators doing their jobs seeking information from terrorists.

Then they tried to go after the Bush Administration lawyers who acted in good faith to protect us in the months after 9/11.

Now some of the military brass are court-martialing three brave Navy SEALs for allegedly throwing a single punch at Iraqi terrorist leader Ahmed Hashim Abed. This is wrong. The Washington Times got it right: Save the SEALs.

These brave warriors belong in combat, not in the courthouse. They captured the most wanted terrorist in Iraq. We may never know how many other heroic missions they undertook on behalf of our country.

The charges should be dropped, and they should be returned to their unit – with our gratitude for their service.

Stand up for the SEALs who are standing up for us!

- Sarah Palin

The likes of Abed would kill us all if they could. We should honor, not prosecute, those who are trying to stop them.

A double MEN!

I recommend reading the book Last Survivor by Marcus Luttrell, about a group of SEALS who died in Afghanistan. Just learning about the grueling training ordeal involved in becoming a SEAL will impress you with what these guys are worth.

This really pisses me off.

There are people, including some on FR who maintain that Sarah Palin’s support for getting these charges dropped is simply and purely politically motivated.

They are accusing her of being an opportunist. Who knew.

To: Kaslin; All

I posted this on another thread, I hope you don’t mind me copying it into here.

This situation was forseen by the SEALs in the book “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell.

Those guys, out there in the mud and the cold, came across a couple of goatherds. The goatherds were clearly hostile, and the SEALs discussed what to do with them.

These guys were out there, on their own, with a mission to accomplish. If they let the goatherds go, they would go to the enemy, no questions asked. The enemy would come back for them in force, to let them go would be akin to putting their own heads in the noose.

But if they killed them, they knew that they would be at the mercy of their own countrymen, the politically correct chain of command, the politicians, the media, and ultimately, you and me.

If they killed these goatherds to accomplish the mission and save their own skin, they had to depend on their own chain of command to understand the circumstances and stand up for them, because they knew DAMN well that the politicians, the media, and ultimately, you and me would call for them to be thrown to the wolves.

They made the hard choice, all of them against their better judgement, knowing it meant their own lives, to let those goatherds go. The goatherds did what was expected, came back in force with the enemy, and left three of the four SEALS dead, the leader awarded the Medal of Honor, and 16 Special Forces men dead when their helicopter was shot down trying to rescue them.

Those guys made a choice, based on the knowledge that WE...YOU AND ME would hang them out to dry, because we have the luxury of NOT being there. We, their chain of command, the politicians and the media all have the luxury of not getting our hands dirty, but being able to pass judgement on them.

I am not saying they did the wrong thing by not killing those goatherds. I admire that they had the courage to make that choice. But the lone survivor, Marcus Luttrell, thinks the “right” choice was to kill those goatherds on the spot, and maybe there would be the families of 20 Special Forces guys who would have their loved one back.

The guy these SEALs punched was one of the terrorists responsible for the death of the Blackwater contractors, which eventually resulted in the death of another 50 Marines in addition to the 500 or so wounded there. This was probably one of the same people who was hanging around with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, sawing the heads off of people in film studios. In Bing West’s book “No True Glory” he talks about the studio the Marines found, with a guy who had had his legs cut off, but hadn’t died immediately (which was their intent) and they left the guy to suffer for who knows how long holed up in a little cell. This guy and the people he hung around with don’t deserve the protection of civilized society.

So, if these guys lied because they socked a scumbag responsible for the deaths of a lot of people to cover their ass, I don’t fault them a bit. I don’t give a rat’s ass if they covered it up.

Turns out they were well justified in trying to cover it up, seeing the way their chain of command and countrymen have left them twisting in the wind and the way this has turned out.

One of the Blackwater guys who were killed in Fallujah, and their bodies burned and hung on that bridge, was from my home town

Apparently (according to Bing West in his great book "No True Glory") after the battle, a Marine officer came by and saw the writing in the picture above. He instructed a Marine to paint out the "F*ck You" but to leave all the rest there.

I am proud and grateful that our country still produces men like Marcus Luttrell. If it weren’t for them, we would be doomed. People of the warrior caste are so rare that I hate to see them wasted fighting Islamic riffraff, esp. without total support here at home.

Like I'd believe the word of a terrorist?

They sure learn the ropes pretty quickly in this PC deranged country of ours.

IMO, he should count his blessings that he's alive to tell about it.

Does anyone know the biography of Maj. General Charles Cleveland, who wants the Navy Seals tried as criminals? I have been trying to find out something about him but have had no luck so far. It makes you wonder how someone like Cleveland gets to rise up in the hierachy of the US Navy. Does anyone have a clue? Are some military people Democrat party plants who are put in place to rise through the ranks to put the Dems agenda into play? This would not surprise me. The Soviets used to put their people into our government so that they could rise through the ranks as “moles”. I think that some of the military brass and military lawyers are probably Democrat plants and “moles”.
