One question I have is, how was Kaczynski’s popularity before the crash? I figured after the PO win, that his approval was declining. How we he be remembered by Poles, even those who didn’t necessarily support his party?

Not good. It's very likely, that he would've lost the election.

I wouldn't vote for him, for example.
But he was the President of my country, who died on duty.

Me too. To lose both mom and dad in one felt swoop is just horrific...May God hold her close in his heart as she goes through this ordeal...

Didn’t his twin brother also run for the same office in the same election? We they from the same Party? Will the brother try again for the presidency?

Somebody posted a picture the other day of the twins when they were 6. I’ve never seen 2 cuter little boys — not even my own. So sad. Is their mother still living?

No, the late Lech Kaczynski won the presidential election.

Whereas his twin brother Jaroslaw is the leader of the party, which won the parliametary election at the same time. And he became the Prime Minister later.

My view is I think there is good in both PiS and PO, and the status quo is good, and that neither party gain too much power.

I admired Kaczynski, at least from outside because I saw a man who truly loved his country. I don’t know about his domestic policies, so I can’t comment.

Sure there is. We should remember, that in 2005 it was obvious for almost everyone, that they'll form the ruling coalition - to reform the country. Which I'd applaud with all my heart

But then this ridiculous war between them broke up - based on personal ambitions and lust for more power, and .... we can see what we have now. They are poles apart (or Poles apart?).

How much of that was Tusk, and how much of it was on Kaczynski?

I’ve been impressed with Tusk, so far. Before this, for me, the jury was still out on him.

Now, being the cynic that I am, of course, Tusk knows that all eyes are now on him. But I saw his address after the tragedy, and I could tell he was visibly shaken.
