Smearing the Tea Party: Dissent is the highest form of patriotism
The Washington Times ^ | April 23, 2010 | Jeffrey T. Kuhner

Posted on 04/22/2010 7:02:49 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Liberals are portraying the Tea Party movement as fostering violence and sedition. During a recent appearance on NBC's "The Chris Matthews Show," Time columnist Joe Klein said that much of the heated political rhetoric, "especially the [statements] coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."

Of course, sedition is a crime. It is the revolt or inciting of revolt against the authority of the government. Mr. Klein's message was clear: Conservative critics of President Obama are committing treason, especially the Tea Partiers who express their disapproval through rallies and protests.

Not to be outdone, former President Bill Clinton seized on the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing to compare Tea Party participants to potential Timothy McVeighs.

"Have at it, go fight, go do whatever you want," Mr. Clinton said in a speech. "You don't have to be nice; you can be harsh. But you've got to be very careful not to advocate violence or cross the line."

In an Op-Ed column in the New York Times, he wrote: "There is a big difference between criticizing a policy or a politician and demonizing the government."

The comments from Mr. Klein and Mr. Clinton are disconnected from reality. The men are either ignoramuses or cheap propagandists, deliberately smearing Tea Party activists. The Tea Party movement has been peaceful and law-abiding. It is a public manifestation of anger at Mr. Obama's unprecedented expansion of government power. This legal, nonviolent freedom of association is as American as mom and apple pie.

The charges against Tea Partiers are not only false, but brazenly hypocritical. During the presidency of George W. Bush, the left's mantra was "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." Apparently, that only applies when a Republican occupies the White_House.(continued)

(FANTASIC graphics/info. I'll bet Clinton wishes he'd kept his mouth shut)

400 liquid gas grenades -

I remember the fire raging and the local firetrucks being held outside the complex, NOT ALLOWED in until AFTER the whole compound was totally engulfed in flames and men, women and children burned to death.

And NOT ONE PERSON was brought to justice.

But today, with obyummer's new Rules of Engagement, - our soldiers cannot defend themselves nor get air cover when pinned down and being killed by the enemy "IF there MIGHT BE a civilian in the area." -

and if they capture a terrorist, they must immediately read them their Miranda Rights.

And our Navy Seals, who captured one of the worst butchers in Iraq, are undergoing court Martials because the cretin claims they punched him (NO EVIDENCE other than his word - which is taken over the Seals.

It's hard to fathom the workings of these peoples minds. Truly, we live under the rule of vile and evil enemies of our country.

We stand and fight for our freedoms now or neither we nor our children nor our grandchilden will ever know the freedoms so dearly fought for, so dearly paid for, over the past 200+ years.

It's OUR TURN to FIGHT FOR FREEDOM.

Here at the Free Republic, we have supposed conservatives that call Rand a friggin’ communist! Sheesh!

That's the way we are here at FR - so far to the Right, even Ayn Rand seems like a commie!

Most leftists I know say that any violence used by the government is legitimate if those who are the subject of that violence were resisting the authority of the federal government.

All because I argued that anyone employed by a company should be paid the free-market value of their work. They thought that a communist idea. And that companies should have the option to hire people, actual new hires, not volunteers... and not pay them.

yeah, I ran into someone on the unpaid intern issue that asserted that the government has a duty to force the business to pay the intern even if the intern and the business agree that the work done by the intern will not be compensated in that manner.

THAT, in my opinion, IS communist and/or fascist.

Cue SHRILLERY [note: turn the volume down]

I AM SICK AND TIRED of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic and we should stand up and say, we are Americans and we have the right to debate and disagree with ANY administration!!!!

"especially the [statements] coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."

So charge 'em already! Arrest 'em, put them in jail and shut down Talk Radio!

See where that gets you!

“If any civilization is to survive, it is the morality of altruism that men have to reject”

-- I have found that most people who object to that phrase have not yet grasped the fact that the term "selfishness" has two meanings, OPPOSITE in ethical value. One, involving taking advantage of unwilling others -- is an evil (and in no one's long-term self-interest, FWIW), and the other, taking care of yourself and your family to the extent YOU decide to -- is a virtue. So if you haven't paid much attention to this distinction, I advise you and everyone else who realizes its importance to do so (and not argue apples and oranges). See THIS page.

BTW, I was first introduced to Rand when my sister sent me a copy of Atlas Shrugged while on army active duty. I had been called up from the reserves by President Kennedy for the Berlin crisis -- and I was stationed at -- are you ready for this? Ft. Meade, Maryland.

[That was a horrific time in our history.]

It was indeed. There is no excuse in the world for what the government did to them.

Thanks devolve. The Waco massacre was such an involved “incident” that it was really hard to shorten it down to a 6 frame slideshow.

[Just what is crossing the line to BillyJeff?]

He wouldn’t like to be reminded of Waco. I got information from Carole Moore’s site and did a lot of reading. It was so involved that I had forgot a lot of details.

[FANTASIC graphics/info. I’ll bet Clinton wishes he’d kept his mouth shut]

Thanks maine-iac7. People need to read up on Waco, it was so involved that I had trouble condensing it down for a slideshow. So many horrific things happened.

It needs to be refreshed in people’s minds, remind them what Clinton was like.

[It’s OUR TURN to FIGHT FOR FREEDOM.]

I agree.

I know the ‘leftists’ think that way, the government is their ‘nanny’, their provider, and they don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them, lol.

Clinton-Reno-FBI reacted to Davidians' self-defense in the way Himmler directed in response to two Czechs killing Reinhard Heydrich. Mt. Carmel was Clinton's Lidice.

Outstanding presentation, potlatch.

[Outstanding presentation, potlatch. ]

Thanks so much Phil, you provided the source for the photos and information and I added a bit.

It was VERY hard to condense that down for a slideshow, the mere ‘basics’ are portrayed there and people need to read up on it and mention it to others who don't recall it or never even knew of it. I read things I had long forgotten.

Read and share this with your Email lists.

The graphics and over 20 others we received and will appear appropriately, are from EUROPEAN sources, Oba-Hussein has almost no respect left in European top administrations.
