How much stupid can you squeeze into one liberal’s head?
Three weeks ago American veterans won their long hard court battle to save their memorial cross honoring American soldiers killed in World War I.
The case went to the Supreme Court and was finally won by a slim 5 to 4 majority. Anthony Kennedy wrote: “Here one Latin cross in the desert evokes far more than religion. It evokes thousands of small crosses in foreign fields marking the graves of Americans who fell in battles, battles whose tragedies are compounded if the fallen are forgotten.”
This week we heard the sad news that the Mojave Memorial Cross had been stolen. After restating the old liberal lie that the cross stood on federal land (the land was transferred to private hands six years ago) the Associated Press reminded us of why there is just no trusting the mainstream media.
In its story the AP speculated that the cross was torn down and taken away by common criminals because of its scrap metal value.
The automatic knee jerk response to this vicious slap in the face of all Americans who cherish our military forces was to ignore the obvious political motivation of anti religious ACLU types and develop a tortured theory reducing the theft to a petty larceny of junk to be sold at a scrap yard.
That this cross stands on private land far away from populated areas and carrying away a seven foot metal cross would require at least two thieves and a pickup truck apparently didn’t penetrate the hard shell of liberal thinking clouding the writer’s mind. The Left has a long history of ignoring laws it doesn’t like, but we are asked to accept this as a petty larceny.
Is there any wonder we don’t trust the media?

I doubt a scrapyard would even take it. Its only a couple bucks worth of steel and full of concrete. Basically worthless to a scrapyard.
Many of the veteran markers at one of our local cemeteries were recently looted for scrap metal. Thankfully, my grandparent’s WW2 service markers weren’t touched.
You are right, obviously the AP knows little about what it speaks.

That cross just had to come down one way or another, I guess. But the cross of the Lord will not be defeated, we all know that. And I will take comfort in that.
But even if it were copper and/or aluminum only a fool would buy into scrap thieves theory because of the timing...
Non ferrous metals like copper are running somewhere south of 40 cents per pound. Scrap steel likely goes for well under half of that.
When you take into account the fact that this steel is full of concrete I doubt you could get more than a couple of dollars out of it. (If a scapyard would pay anything at all)
Any thief that stole it for scrap reasons at this point in time must have gone “FULL LIBERAL”

I’m getting close to $2 for no. 2 copper. Steel and scrap aluminum bars are closer to your numbers. AC cores are where the good money is. Hence and the thefts.
I suspect that this was a lone-wolf scrap metal thief. But I also believe that the lastest Times Square bomber was a lone-wolf disgruntled white male upset over his mortgage and ObamaCare, and that members of the Religion of Peace are far less likely than the Amish, evangelical Christians, or prior military conservatives who cling to God and guns to launch such attacks.

The AP covers for their own - or that's the way it seems. They can't imagine a situation where a liberal - a wonderful golden liberal - would ever seek revenge for not getting their way. On the other hand - when a bomb is discovered in New York - they are "oh so ready" to believe it might have been a right winger. Even when it never is... Jerks.
