Visalia, Calif. • A Mormon church official was shot dead between services on Sunday, and less than an hour later, the man suspected of the crime also died after a shootout with police.
Clay Sannar, 42, a lay bishop with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Visalia, southeast of Fresno, died after being shot in his office, said Visalia police chief Colleen Mestas.
Soon after the first shooting, a caller identified himself to police as the shooter. Police responded, and there was a confrontation with several shots exchanged, said Mestas.
The suspect was hit multiple times. He was taken to nearby Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified yet. No officers were injured, Mestas said.
Tulare County sheriff’s deputies are taking over the investigation of the shootout involving the police officers. The sheriff’s department did not immediately return calls for comment.
Visalia police continue to investigate Sannar’s shooting, but have not identified a motive.

Jordan said it does not appear anyone in the ward knew the shooter, who “is not a member of the church.” He said Sannar was well liked and an “outstanding man.” Sannar was the general manager of Soil Basics, a fertilizer company in Visalia, according to the company’s website. He and his wife had six boys, including a 6-month-old infant.
How sad.
May the Lord give his family peace.
With all the hate coming from the homosexual marriage crowd, the only surprise is that more people of faith haven’t been executed.

VISALIA, Calif. — Police are searching for motives behind the actions of a gunman accused of fatally shooting a Mormon church official dying in a shootout with police.
Wonder if the shooter is a militant gay after the Mormons for their support of Prop 8? You’ll never know....the MSM will cover for him if so.

According to church spokesman, Ralph Jordan, “He did not ask for Mr. Sannar, but he did ask for the leader or the Bishop.”
Members of this LDS church in Visalia say a man they’ve never seen before came in their church looking for someone.
“The person that entered the building asked for the Bishop and then actually waited for some time until he became available,” says Jordan.
They brought him to 42 year-old bishop Clay Sannar. The father of six young sons became Bishop of this ward just four months ago. The man that came to meet him, shot and killed Sannar in his new church office.
Jordan says, “Everyone here is just stunned. The person that came in, the shooter, that person was someone that we do not know.

Why is the perp shooter anonymous?
It could be they hadn’t notified next-of-kin yet. I think they withhold naming even scum like this until that is done.
