The reactions of Freepers after the first plane hit.
I remember that morning clearly.
I was freeping at work.
The first I heard of it was here.

Tomorrow MSNBC will rebroadcast their live coverage of 9/11/01 all morning.
Also, the History Channel is showing 9/11 documentaries all day long.
I was vacationing in Hawaii with my family. We were sceduled to leave on September 11. While we were still sleeping we were awakened by a call from an aunt telling us to turn on the TV pronto. We saw the second tower hit live. We were in a state of shock... Needless to say, we didn’t leave that day. All the planes were grounded.
P.S. I'll never forget Commontator. I valued his political insight so much, and I miss it.

My first remembrance was listening to the radio at about 9 o’clock. There had been radio reports of a plane flying into WTC but it was not clear according to reports whether it was a small plane or a large plane. The radio people were talking to someone on the phone when the second plane hit and the reporters voice really went up in shock when the second phone hit. Since I work in a job that was market related there was no work for us to do since the markets closed down that day. Also since I had no tv at work I went online trying to get some news but all the websites were slow and unreponsive. So I went to an Australian newspaper website and there I got some info. It wasn’t till I got home and could watch the tv coverage that I could see how horrible it was. I also remember listening to a christian radio station and they were talking to Jerry Falwell and that was where I found out that Barbara Olson was on one of the plane. I really loved her and enjoyed seeing her on tv. I still have the book she wrote about that time and haven’t bought myself to read that. The next few days I watched the tv coverage too shocked to really do anything and almost too shocked to cry. It wasn’t until I watched the Barbara Olson Memorial on the following saturdays 4 days later that I just really let it out and cried.
I checked FR at home just before leaving for my 5 minute drive to work. By the time I got to work and fired up my computer there, the 1st plane had hit. FR consumed the rest of my day.
Thank you so much for posting that link. I was not on FR until months later. I’m guessing 9/11 drove many of us to find this forum.

It’s painful to read even now, but it helps us not to forget (despite the best efforts of the MSM to make us do just that).

The first thing I did was call my wife at work to see if she was all right. The two things I remember most:
1. No planes in the sky that night.
2. Seeing Marine 1 and escorts fighters flying over my backyard almost close enough to reach out and touch them.
I also thanked God it wasn't President Gore in the White House.
Thanks to all of you....sometimes I come in here and just read Ray’s (Common Tator’s) thoughts. I miss him so much, he was the love of my life. I’ve tried to move on, but it’s difficult. Like I said, first time I’ve posted on here in quite a while, and it feels good to be back. Thanks again.
The horror continued...the Pentagon....the Pennsylvania site. Had those planes both made their target...the Capital..every building along the capital mall would have been destroyed.
A note....The wall on that side of the pentagon had been upgraded "structurally".
Never forget "Let's roll". Never forget "3000 Americans" and the soldiers who continue the fight against a dastardly enemy.
My mom, dad, sister, and close friends all knew I was in Boston and thought that I might have somehow been on UA Flight 175 out of Logan since I was scheduled to fly home that day. So when I called them all that day, they were over whelmed with relief.
My colleague and I were stranded in Boston for three days before deciding to commandeer our rental car and driving back to our office in the DC area. That nine-hour drive was the spookiest I have EVER made, with almost NO traffic on the highways and no aircraft in the air on their usual eastern corridor routes. A deathly stillness permeated the entire trip home.
