The author actually has the stones to say with a straight face that what Juan said on BOR was a bigoted statement:

"I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."

Yeah, right. Like just about anybody else these days wouldn't get just a little nervous. NPR has really stuck it's foot in it. Juan Williams is justly renowned for having written some of the definitive works on the Civil Rights movement and calling him a bigot and firing him for straying off the plantation is as egregious as it gets. There's no doubt they've been wanting to boot him ever since he started to appear on FNC, or perhaps, ever since he started appearing on FNC and then later dared to write "Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-End Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America--and What We Can Do About It" in 2007.

Fox is the bottom line for his firing, not his comments.

I’m guessing the urgency to fire him grew exponentially with Soros buying reporters for them.

Anyone who has EVER believed that NPR isn’t biased has rocks for brains. It is one of the most biased news outlets in the country, and it is biased on the public dime. Juan Williams was an “analyst,” which means they paid him to be biased. Their reporters are more biased than he is, and they’re not supposed to be.

I’ve seen Williams on Fox dozens of times, I never realized that he was on NPR.

The whole episode is just a scheme to garner publicity for the network.

OK NPR strives to not be biased...OK. I have no words for this......I am lost....Nothing you can say unless you are insane. There is no logical response to such a statement.

I have believed for a long time that the feds have no business paying for NPR. This is just another reminder.

We need to pull the plug on them. They can sell advertising time just like everyone else; it will be good for them to learn to live in the real world.

And, seriously, if they are taking money from Soros there is nothing “public” about them.

Hey look at the double standard from whoopi

Palin retweeted remarks from conservative columnist Michelle Malkin who suggested there is a double standard and “lib hate speech always gets a pass.”

Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of ABC’s “The View,” said on the show today that NPR was wrong to fire Williams.

Goldberg walked off the set of the “The View” last week when O’Reilly said Muslims were to be blamed for the 9/11 attacks. She said the incidents were different because Williams was stating an opinion while O’Reilly was stating what he claimed was a fact.

“View” co-host Barbara Walters also said Williams should not have been fired.

“If you are someone who is giving your opinion, then you’re allowed to give your opinion,” the news veteran said. “You may or may not agree. Therefore, I think they were very wrong.”

While I don’t think he should have been fired for free speech I hope he learned a valuable lesson and is worth the money Fox is going to pay him they should keep in mind he is still a liberal

Let Soros bankroll npr. I'm hoping that a republican house will completely defund cpb (corporation for public broadcasting).

They need to dump Nina Totenberg and Mara Liasson then as well.

Where’s the NAACP, Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton?

Let’s cut to the chase. NPR should not have fired Juan for his comments on FOX. However, FOX should have gotten rid of Juan long ago for his tedious liberal diatribes. He’s been a bit better of late, but NPR’s mistreatment of him shouldn’t be the reason for FOX to lionize him.
