Olbermann to Strike Back at Koppel for Saying He Represents 'The Death of Real News'
Newsbusters ^ | 11-14-10 | Noel Sheppard

Ted Koppel on Sunday published an op-ed at the Washington Post wherein he claimed that opinionated television personalities like MSNBC's Keith Olbermann represent the death of real news.

The "Countdown" host apparently isn't taking this lying down for he tweeted the following Sunday evening:

FYI Special Comment tomorrow night: Koppel, False Equivalence, and his part in the real "death of news" [sic]

Here's what's caught Olbermann's ire this time:

To witness Keith Olbermann - the most opinionated among MSNBC's left-leaning, Fox-baiting, money-generating hosts - suspended even briefly last week for making financial contributions to Democratic political candidates seemed like a whimsical, arcane holdover from a long-gone era of television journalism, when the networks considered the collection and dissemination of substantive and unbiased news to be a public trust.

It doesn't bother me if Keef just gets loonier and more hateful and vitriolic..........it might be kind of entertaining to see the guy blow up on live TV!!!

I challenge anyone to prove that real news existed.

(In the context stated)

It’s all opinion. Whether it come under a “opinion” or op/ed banner, or be it coming with a banner of “news”. That’s opinion too.

The only problem is that it sets up the rest of the MSM who “only” break hard left to point to Olbermann and say “See we’re centrist, we have a puf piece about the unquestioned born and breed American known as Obama. But first we have a inside report about Sarah Palin’s vestigial tail.”

Komrade Olbermann is an insulting, profane little propagandist. IMHO, what he desperately needs is an industrial strength mouth washing, a good thorough old school drubbing and a job requiring heavy manual labor.

I wasn’t paying much attention at the time (because I was born in ‘70) but I’d venture a guess that the end of real news/journalism began with old Walt’s editorializing about Vietnam on the evening news.

"Komrade Olbermann is an insulting, profane little propagandist.

He may have three people who listen to him. Not a concern in my opinion.

They did when they used to have news bureaus all over the globe that covered and reported "news". It doesn't take much budget to sit on your ass in a studio with a bunch of talking heads discussing the latest DNC fax as if it "reporting". That's how they can get away with paying their "talent" so lavishly.

Sorry Ted, but real news died a long time ago. Well, it didn't die so much as succumb to liberal cancer. There is nothing in the MSM anymore that even remotely qualifies as news: unbiased reporting of the whole story. 90% or more of what is passed off as “news” is merely liberal/socialist propaganda packaged up to manipulate the public. It has had a pretty good run (unfortunately), but is starting to show it's age and irrelevance thanks to beacons like Fox news, conservative talk radio, and the Internet. The truth is leaking out.

Does Drudge still say he makes more money than ABC, CBS, and NBC News combined?

You'd win. One of the way-stations down that detour was WR Hearst/Spanish-American War/Yellow Journalism. That is just the first one to come to mind.

Olbermann doesn't make real news. That Koppel, he's pulled real news out of his ass every day for 35 years.
