The desire of certain people to control other people will not be resolved in this life.

“I see these Establishment Pundits and Politicians paying their now-obligatory lip-service to the Tea Party Movement, and I’m forced to wonder if they realize just how *conditional* is their much-ballyhooed “Republican Mandate” really is......”

-Why do you view Horowitz as “Establishment”?

Heard that about Conservatives from the other side as well..

Complacency will set in again if we don’t hold folks accountable.. including ourselves.

The Whigs died because they tried to remain a national party during a sectional conflict, trying to ignore the primary issue of the day. Didn’t work.

We have no issue that is similar today. Our disagreements are ideological, not sectional, except insofar as one or the other ideology is dominant in particular areas.

Well, that would be nice. But the Democrats have a solid 33% of the voters, who are only mad at them because they aren’t far enough to the left.

The party in danger is the Republican party. Because there is a tidal wave of voter discontent in the Tea Party. And the Tea Party isn’t about to replace the Democrats. They will replace the REpublicans, unless they come to their senses in the next two years.

The Tea Party would like to join and reform the Republican Party. But if the Republican rulers won’t have them, then they will form their own new second party, and the GOP will go into the dustbin of history.

The Democrats will still be there, if sadly diminished. The party won’t die, however, unless those on the left decide to form a more moderate leftist party and replace the Dems. There is no such movement in sight at the moment.

“One should learn from one’s enemies. Hubris and complacency go before the fall...A brand new copy of James Carville’s “40 More Years” is now available at Amazon for just $0.01.”

-But there’s a difference: The Libs are (and have been for a long time) 20% of the population. Conservatives are 40%; add Libertarians and moderate-leaning individuals and it’s 70-75%.

“If the Republicans don’t get the job done, they’ll be out just a fast. And, the Democrats aren’t going away for too long. Eventually, they’ll shift their platform just enough to keep the most odious stances while seeming palatable.”

-Agree. (And what I said above is only satisfied if Republicans stay true to their principles.)

You are off. The GOP had no money this go round and the Rats had tons of it. Money does not matter when the voters clue in that things are spiraling out of control. Soros funding all these outside groups did nothing but alert people to the aims of the left. Party names haven’t changed in a while but the mission statements have.

The Rats are not the party it was up to the 80’s and the GOP was far off the tracks to its Reagan era and 1994 missions. The Tea Party has started co-opting the GOP framework to start getting back to first principles. The left on the other hand as moved so far out on the radical left there may not be a course corection.

Look for more Lieberman style “Independants” popping up.

David Horowitz tells Newsmax that the Democratic Party has been “seized by a religious cult” of leftists and will go the way of the 19th-century Whig Party — disappearing from the political scene.

I'll print a copy of that and use it for a bookmark in Carville's book:

There’s an easy way to hasten this demise, make public sector unions illegal and forbid them from contributing member’s dues to any political party or cause.

The dems are simply an arm of the criminal union apparatus.

I’d like to sing a song of great social and political import:
Obama, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

My friends all drive Porsches, you must make amends.

Gov checks all my lifetime, from my working friends,

So Obama, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Obama, won’t you buy me a color TV?

Waiting For News O from MSNBC.

I wait for delivery each day until three,

So Obama, won’t you buy me a color TV?

Obama, won’t you buy MO a night on the town?

I’m counting on you, O, please don’t let MO down.

Prove you still love MO and buy the next round,

Obama, won’t you buy MO a night on the town?

Everybody!

Obama, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

My friends all drive Porsches, you must make amends,

Gov checks all my lifetime, from my working friends,

So Obama, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

That’s it!

Who knew Janis Joplin was a psychic.......

He's dead wrong. The demographics of this nation point to a leftward shift that will continue unabated unless our border is promptly secured.

This past election is only be a temporary aberration, unfortunately. The democrats will become radical Marxists and the GOP will move from RINOs to active democrats.

“He’s wrong on this one. The “Democrat” Party, aka, the PROGRESSIVES/SOCIALISTS is nothing more than a group of Unions, Free-riders, and mis-guided “Yewts” who just think the world owes them a living, and OTHER PEOPLE should be FORCED (via Taxation), to transfer their earnings and/or wealth to them. They will NEVER go away, so long as the politicians keep doing their bidding, and in turn get their votes.”

This is all true. But what if we just said “No” to all of this, and really meant it? Where would they get all of their political “life support” from?

Abstinence works in preventing pregnancies; “Just say No” worked in preventing a lot of kids from taking drugs. Why can’t we apply the same thinking in other matters? The only thing we’re really afraid of deep-down is being called names by the Left, the protests, the screaming and yelling.

Wishful thinking. But if Democrats are possessed by the hopeless left and the past two years were their high water mark, good. Stop playing their games and focus on a real conservative agenda for a change: shrink the damn federal government before it sucks all the life and vitality out of this country.

Horowitz has some good points here. It is true that political parties have births and deaths, although each of the two major parties have moved either right or left and soaked up the “third parties” that arise out of protest. Our history has at least two examples of major parties dying. And the deaths lingered over several years. The First great party, The Federalists, died after the ascension of Thomas Jefferson. But it lingered on for awhile in the Northeast. The same is true of the Whigs. It died but continued for a bit in the border states (KY, TN, parts of IL and Ohio).

I would think that it is more likely, however, that the traditional Republican party will die if they do not deliver on their conservative promises!
