Maxine Waters Ethics Trial Canceled Posted by Brian Montopoli Leave Comment

One day after it recommended censure for veteran Democrat Charles Rangel of New York, the bipartisan House ethics committee has canceled the Nov. 29th trial for California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters.

The committee said new material has come to light that has prompted a decision to send the Waters case back to the initial subcommittee that first looked into it, according to CBS Radio News Capitol Hill Correspondent Bob Fuss. That four-member subcommittee will now reexamine the evidence against Waters.

Waters has been accused of improperly attempting to steer federal bailout money to a bank in which her husband had a financial interest. The lawmaker, who has a high-ranking spot on the House Financial Services Committee, has denied all wrongdoing.

In 2008, Waters organized a meeting between Treasury officials and executives from OneUnited Bank, where her husband was once a board member and had significant investments. The bank received $12 million from the federal government's Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Waters has defended her request for the meeting as part of her efforts to advocate on behalf of minority-owned businesses.

Well, that’s a relief. There has to be ethics in the first place in order for there to be an ethics trial.

In other words it is so bad the current congressional committee headed by democrats wants nothing to do with it, but are willing to let the next congress headed by republicans go for it and take Maxine Waters mouthy excuses and the cries of racisim

In a pre-trial motion the Democrats determined that Ethics did not have legal standing.

Interesting. Is it beause after reviewing the evidance they concluded they would have to find her guilty also?

Or is it because they did not want another circus?

new material has come to light

She was seen walking on water?

But, seriously, we don't know if this new material would help exonerate her or, quite possibly, involves evidence of further crimes.

QUESTION Do her working class constituents know Maxine Waters used their tax dollars to help her and her husband's investment in OneUnited.

Do her working class constituents know that their tax dollars were used to finance a luxurious lifestyle for OneUnited bank chairman and CEO Kevin Cohee, including a Porsche and a mansion on the exclusive Pacific Coast Highway?

Cohee's high-flying perks came despite his having been charged in 2007 with felonies after his arrest on suspicion of possessing cocaine, crack cocaine and concentrated cannabis, according to the Los LA County DA's office. The case was dismissed the next year after Cohee completed a drug diversion program.

Cohee was also arrested in 2007 after a woman filed a complaint alleging that Cohee had forcibly sodomized her, according to public records. Prosecutors did not pursue the assault charge.

OneUnited Bank Chairman and CEO, Kevin Cohee
JD, Harvard Law School
Board Member, Boston Bank Of Commerce
Formerly with Salomon Bros, Inc.

I hear that, these days, Cohee has the affirmative action office of Harvard Law School on speed-dial.

Nope. It will just reinforce that Pubbies are rayciss.

That and this way the Dhimmicrats will avoid a troika (Cornyn, Rangel, Waters) that could make the whities in control (Pelosi, Hoyer) actually appear rayciss to their base constituency (that would be the Congresional Black Caucus).

"willing to let the next congress headed by republicans go for it and take Maxine Waters mouthy excuses and the cries of racisim. . ."

When Newt and the boys took over in 1995 and exposed the House Post Office Scandal, that was just for starters. The Socialist/Democrat crooks decided not to run in the next election.

Dems are probably giving the new crooks the same advice, starting with Rangel and Marxine Waters.

They are telling these felons that if they don't retire, the Republicans will send them to jail when they run DOJ in 2013.
