Why the Tax Bill is a HUGE WIN for the GOP

I don't understand why some people are wringing their hands over this tax bill. Actually, I do. Some people aren't happy to get 99% of what they want. They want everything or nothing. Other people will not be happy, even with 100% of what they supposedly want. They live to be cynical and won't have their favorite crutch taken from them.

Keep in mind folks, the democrats have a large majority of both houses of Congress and control of the White House right now. Before Obama was not willing to even give the GOP the time of day. He let Pelosi and Reid run the show and just told them to get bills on his desk. He did not care what they were. He just wanted something to sign. Look where that got him and the democrats.

Now with the tax bill, all Obama had to do was come up with a deal that would peal off 1 or 2 GOP senators like he has in the past with Scott Brown, Snowe, or Dukakis. He possibly could have come up with something much more favorable to democrats, including no extension of tax relief to upper-income earners, and got enough GOP support to get it through the Senate where it would have been swiftly passed by a Pelosi-run House. INSTEAD, Obama brokered a deal that is so favorable for the GOP, it is getting OVERWHELMING GOP SUPPORT. Don't you malcontents get it? He unneccesarily gave way too much ground! He doesn't need "overwhelming GOP support" to get a bill passed right now before the new Congress comes in. All he needs is MINIMAL GOP support. The man-child has woosed out so badly he's given way, way more than he had to.

It's yet another example that Obama is a moron, in over his head, completely overmatched, and playing checkers while the GOP is playing chess.

Is the bill "perfect"? ARE YOU KIDDING? Look at the White House and the current Congress. Do you seriously think they would ever pass a bill that would look like it was written by Ronald Reagan? Pull your collective heads out of your asses! This is the most radical White House and Congress we have ever had and Obama has just caved on the defining tax policy of the Bush Administration. This completely demolishes Obama's argument about Bush's "tax cuts for the rich". This is yet another Bush policy that Obama has had to sign on to after campaigning against. It makes him look weak and foolish.

Even the media and the left can see this for what it is.

My only fear is that with all of the braying from those who are determined to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory, we will overplay our hand. If enough idiots convince the GOP to defeat this plan and taxes go up across the board, stocks take a dive, the rest of the holiday sales season is spoiled, Obama will trot out and say "I bent over backwards for the GOP to get tax cuts passed for every single American. I do so despite opposition from within my own party and base of supporters. That's how far I was willing to go to work with the GOP. Evidently, the only thing they want more than tax cuts for the rich are unemployment benefit cuts for the poor. Because they refused to pass a tax bill even Ronald Reagan would love, they have cut short the recovery, putting even more Americans out of work, and making unemployment benefits even more of a necessity than before. How ironical that their refusal to deliver needed relief to the unemployed has guaranteed that the ranks of the unemployed will swell. Are they going to refuse to offer these newly unemployed relief as well? They will have little choice but to see the error of their ways as the American people demand relief, and pay for even more benefits than they would have had to pay if they had simply taken the deal I offered them in good faith".

Even with the new congress, we will still not have both Houses of Congress! I'm not sure some of you care more about the country than scoring political points, but with this bill you get both!

PASS THE FREAKING BILL WHILE YOU CAN!

We're getting the extension of the tax rates. We're getting other tax breaks as well. In 2 years, let the democrats fight this losing battle all over again if they want! Seriously, what is Obama going to say on the tax issue if he's running for re-election??? Is he going to say, "Re-elect me and this time I really, really promise to raise taxes on the rich! I won't cave next time. Really! I promise! Trust me!" He would sound like such a pathetic loser, which of course he is. But who would believe him? NOBODY will fall for it again.

Bush was willing to pass "temporary" tax cuts, because he could not get permament ones. THANK GOD he took what he could get instead of insising of everything or nothing. This is the gift that keeps on giving and the democrats are too stupid to see it. Instead of just making these tax cuts permament, they are going to allow themselves to get clubbed over the head with "raising taxes" everytime they the expire.

Pull your little tails out from between your legs, and quit being so fearful that if Obama and the GOP find agreement and pass a bill that Obama might get some credit. How much "credit" from conservatives did Bush 1 get for passing tax hikes? About the same amount of "credit" Obama will get from liberals for passing tax cuts.

Now, knock off the foolishness, take a victory when it falls in your lap, and go on to fight for more of what you want tomorrow!

Bringing back the death tax, abandoning the idea of Paygo and mounting more debt spending for unemployment benefits and allowing Bush’s tax cuts to become Obama’s tax cuts.

We gave them a few things, but we won the big prize. And we get to see a meltdown on the left to boot.

After JAN 4, the House makes the rates permanent ... could get through the Senate ... make Obambi VETO it. Then negotiate a compromise.

We are prematurely compromising. Often the GOP overplays its hand. On this, they UNDERPLAYED their hand.

If you really want it all, you better get GOP control of it all. Until then, take every victory you can, small or large. And this isn't a small one. I'm not suggesting the GOP not fight for these other things. I'm suggesting taking this massive victory NOW and get the rest ASAP. This isn’t anything special.

Taxes simply don’t get raised - what’s so great about that? Meanwhile, we have made unemployment benefits into a 3 year welfare plan.

A 12% flat tax for both individuals and corporations, with no capital gains or estate tax, and no deductions - now that would be a VICTORY.
