Glory is a low Earth orbit scientific research satellite designed to collect data on the properties of aerosols, including black carbon, in the Earth's atmosphere and climate system, and to collect data on solar irradiance for the long-term effects on the Earth climate record. The new robotic probe is headed to the launch pad, aiming for a spot aboard what is called the A-train -- a fleet of Earth-orbiting spacecraft keeping tabs on the planet's changing climate.
Coming to a topline conclusion about the treality of global warming will be a snap: Glory will measure the total amount of energy coming to Earth from the sun, subtract what gets reflected back or re-radiated from particles in the atmosphere and see what you have left. If more energy is coming in than going out, it's getting hotter.
To calibrate just how much is human-created is more complicated: Figure out what fraction of these atmospheric particles stems from natural phenomena, such as wind-blown dust and volcanic eruptions, and what is coming from things we can control -- our industrial processes, business pursuits and recreational past-times.
NASA hopes to tackle the question with Glory: part-solar monitor, part-atmospheric probe, Glory will join the quartet of Earth-orbiting satellites known as the Afternoon Constellation -- nicknamed the A-train -- which fly over the equator at roughly 1:30 p.m. local time every day so scientists can collect data from a variety of instruments tracking the same bit of real estate virtually simultaneously. That information is fed into computer models used to monitor and forecast climate change.
From a stationary position 438 miles above Earth, Glory will inventory atmospheric aerosols -- both naturally occurring and human-induced -- so scientists can determine each type's relative influence on global climate. ........

It is quite clear that a lot of "science" is being done to shut people up rather than trying to advance understanding of the world around us.
The idea of a true energy audit of the globe sounds intriguing. That’s going to open a pandora’s box of issues, as carbon dioxide is hardly the leading factor in earth’s “greenhousing.”
Figures don’t lie, but liars can figure.
What a waste of money. Instead of research, the satellite should be broadcasting self-esteem messages to Muslims per Obama’s stated goal for NASA.
Thought Global Warming had already been proved.
The climate is supposed to change.
Psst! It’s really a spy satellite to find out if you’re still using incandescent light bulbs in your house.
The satellite will not and can not tell us what the sun will do.
They will take whatever data and massage it to say whatever they want it to say.
You can be sure that in their conclusion it will be “Give us
your money the power to control your life, and we will save you from Gorebull warming”.
And that is exactly where the fudge factors (calibrate/complicated) will be kicked in, this will settle nothing.

The propaganda is in the title. Most who deny man made global warming do not deny that the climate changes because of nature. Ice ages have come and Gone many times without the help of man. This probe is just the chance to make some more phony claims about the source, and the effect of what they measure.

What a ridiculous statement. One might just as well say, the sun shines therefore things are getting hotter.
The statement is both true and false. The sun shines but things are not necessarily getting hotter from the mean.
Or this: In fact, data has shown over the last ten years, there has been a slight amount of cooling from the mean temperature of ten years ago.
...and frankly Scarlett, why are you (in a general rather than the specific poster sense) worried about global warming. God has been taking care of his creation ever since, as a habitation for human beings. It might as well be called a life support system. The controls are in place and have worked quite well for centuries. Man does not have access to the control room, so it might be moot from the get go to try and prove something one has no control over.
Unfortunately, it appears that the lack of keys to the control room isn’t a very big deterrent to those with the inner desire to break the lock open the door and take over for God.
If is 'stationery' at 438 miles, it will burn up in atmosphere. Geosynchronous orbit is 22,000 mi out.
Kinda makes one question the whole project. (As if we needed other reasons to do so)

“How can it be stationary at 438 miles up? Don’t you people understand how geostationary satellites work? If you don’t understand that, how can we trust anything you say about science?
And why would it even make sense to be stationary over one spot, if it is trying measure the whole planet?”
NASA is also obsessed with the “search for life.”
Its function will be to provide data that can be manipulated to support forgone conclusions.
