RR: 46% of GOP Primary Voters Who Favor Palin Might Back Third-Party Option If She Isn’t Nominated

Nearly half of the Republican Primary voters who support Sarah Palin say they are at least somewhat likely to vote for a third-party candidate if she does not win the GOP presidential nomination.

I think this is a little overboard and overlooks the word "Might". If an actual conservative other than Palin wins the nomination, the primaries are somewhat clean (no unforgivable personal attacks), and even Sarah herself can endorse the eventual nominee and advocate for them as a true conservative, then I don't see the mass exodus. However, it seems like when people were answering this question, they assumed Palin not getting the nomination must have meant another RINO would get it, which in case would lead to another political disaster for the GOP. But for now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt at this point to work it out. Even if Palin, DeMint, Thune, and whoever have to work it out beforehand to ensure the conservative vote doesn't split in the primary, so be it.

I would definitely vote third party if some 0bama clone like Romney got the nod, but I can accept a conservative other than Palin.

How about we just simply let the media pick our candidate.

With ‘polls’ like these...that seems to be their intent anyway. This is a joke and TOTALLY MEANINGLESS. But there might be a few people here that take the bait and start screaming at each other.

It’s rapidly approaching the time when if you don’t stand up for your principles, all will be lost.

If someone else throws his/her hat in the ring that shows the same depth of character and commitment to principle then, yeah, I’ll happily vote for them.

Until then, I am behind Sarah.

If Palin gets the nomination, I will definitely vote third party. Same goes for if some RINO clown, like Romney, gets the nod.

This is why I think the “Palin or nobody” people are just as bad as the Rudy McRomneys.

A pox on both camps.

As if the only choices are between two different competing groups of amnesty queens.

The GOP’s hostility towards Conservatives does not go unnoticed.

A day of reckoning could be upon the Republican Party.

Oh, good. The third party nut cases gave us Bill Clinton when they voted for Ross The Nut Perot.

I am not a Palin or nobody but I plan to write her name on the ballot if I feel she hasn’t gotten a fair shake from the Gutless Old Party people who attempt to control these elections. So far I haven’t seen one iota of support from the Republican Party for her. The only support I see is from people like me who believe in her. If the GOP begins to acknowledge her as a viable candidate and are willing to back her then I will be satisfied. I am sick of Romney, Hick-abee being shoved down our throats. When Cheney, Bush, the Newt et all begin to speak up for her then I might believe the party would back her. Until then...for me, it is Palin or no one.

Yeah, I agree. It cuts both ways.

Look people, it's WAY to early to anoint ANY candidate or potential candidate as our pick in 2012. There are plenty of fine conservatives out there in addition to Palin, and I vote for letting any of them who want to have a crack at it too, instead of just fixating on Palin lie we're all a bunch of obsessive-compulsives.

I'm damned sure NOT going to vote for another John McCain!

This is engraved in stone, they can take it to the bank!

It doesn't absolutely need to be Sarah but if the nominee isn't reasonably conservative no way will I vote for them.

The cycle of history repeating itself is getting shorter and shorter......usually, the people who engage in the “repeat behavior” were not around the first time it happened.

I support Palin and I might not accept any substitutes.

I will not, under any circumstances, vote for Newt, Mitt or Rudy. If the GOP nominates one of those three, then I will write in Ted Kennedy's name. ;-)

Oh, good. The third party nut cases gave us Bill Clinton when they voted for Ross The Nut Perot.

George HW Bush was responsible for Perot. He and his minions ran a terrible campaign, and Bush 41 didn't take an interest in his own re-election until it was too late.
