Winston Churchill famously described fanatics as those who "can't change their mind and won't change the subject." It's an appraisal that also could be applied to those Americans who continue to insist that President Obama is neither a U.S. citizen nor a Christian....posted using frpa

"the issue isn't whether people have a right to believe dangerously idiotic things. Of course they do; there's no way to stop them. The issue is whether people have the right to act on their bizarre fantasies, which is precisely what carrying them into electoral politics entails."

So, the left says you can believe dangerous things because we can't stop that, but you can't vote on those view? What exactly are the global warming freaks, the big labor union freaks, and the islamic appeaser freaks doing? Those views are not "dangerous", but wanting Obama and other Candidates to prove they are constitutionally qualified is?

What Boehner and the other sober heads in the Republican leadership ought to consider is the difference between questioning Obama's policies and his legitimacy. It's a profound and consequential distinction.

The whole idea behind the Natural Born Citizen rule is that we want a president who is 100% loyal to this country and no other. We see Obama's policies, which hurt us, hurt our allies, and help our enemies, and we see his questionable eligibility, and we see a link between the two. The policies and the legitimacy are the same thing.

Those who complain about birthers are trying everything, everything - to get us to go away- EXCEPT SHOWING US THE BC!

which would be the simplest way to dismiss us - funny they haven't thought of it

Our founders were pretty smart guys, but I wish they could have envisioned some of the distortions the left has championed and but in some more distinct wording; Natural Born Citizen - Prove it with signed documents from witnesses of the birth, Abortion - Define when life and rights begin, Separation of Church and State - Just ban satanism, islam, and tell atheist they have the right to keep their opinions to themselves, Birth right Citizenship - I wish they had seen the problem we are having with that one, Protecting our borders with the best available technology available, etc.

The issue is whether people have the right to act on their bizarre fantasies

The ISSUE is whether we are a nation of laws, governed by The Constitution.

If the marxist who support the usurper don't like the "natural Born" provision, they are welcome to pursue the methods outlined in The Constitution to change or do away with that provision. Just because these people fancy themselves as "sophisticates" and "citizens of the world", doesn't mean that the provision is no longer in effect and foreigners are now allowed to be president.

Well, then, you can see why democRats oppose this thinking - NONE of them would ever qualify.

A people can only live in liberty if self governed. Self governance requires a strong adherence to objective morality.

2 Cor 3:17
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

The only "bizarre fantasy" here is that Obama is not hiding his identity documents and covering up his history for a reason.

When liberals attack it is almost always a case of guilt transference or their tendency to take the first shot (justified in their minds because they "know" how underhanded and violent conservatives and other patriots can be).

Like you said they were pretty smart and probably envisioned that the future of our Nation would only get smarter and keep the moral values of Judeo Christian beliefs. They probably never envisioned the Dumbing Down of America only a Smarter America. There are times we ourselves living today can not envision something that can happen: ex. HealthCare Bill. Our Forefathers didn’t think that almost 300 years after their plan was developed that their simple words could not be understood.

Yeh, who is more fanantical the birthers who want to see the long form BC or Obama who is spending $2million to keep it a secret?

Winston Churchill famously described fanatics as those who "can't change their mind and won't change the subject."

Then I guess Churchill was a "fanatic":

We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, will carry on the struggle until in God's good time the New World with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the Old.
And I am too. Though briefly changing the subject, e.g. to ask to see his college transcripts, test scores, etc., is something I have no problem with.

I don't know where Obama was born although I suspect that it wasn't Hawai'i. However, I feel certain that he is not a Christian. No one who attended Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years is a Christian. A true follower of Christ would have walked out as soon as the hatred that this so-called church feels for others was revealed.

I suspect that he is a cultural Muslim in his heart although I doubt that he has any real convictions that could be described as "faith".

If Obama were born in the U.S., his state of Hawaii would automatically file a long form birth certificate on record. Question? Why would someone show a short form birthcertificate or even have a short form birthcertificate if they were born in the U.S. I mean lets say I was born in Florida. I guess I have a long form birth certificate on file in Florida, right? So if I have to prove and show my birth certificate, I would show the long form version because that is all I have, right? So I either show my long form or I would have to apply and have a short form made up for me, right? Can I get a short form birth certificate in Florida or is that only for the state of Hawaii? I’m just trying to understand this short form vs. the long form cerificate, scenario.

“Putting aside for the moment the question of why establishing the president’s citizenship or religious faith requires taking anyone at their “word,” the issue isn’t whether people have a right to believe dangerously idiotic things. Of course they do; there’s no way to stop them. The issue is whether people have the right to act on their bizarre fantasies, which is precisely what carrying them into electoral politics entails.”

I’m not a birther but this is a pretty interesting paragraph. It starts off being incredulous that anyone would need to take Obamas word regarding faith and citizenship, but what other evidence is there? Even the gov of Hawaii (a friend and supporter of Obama) couldn’t locate his BC after vowing to do so.

Even more interesting is questioning “whether people have the right to act on their bizarre fantasies” with regard to electoral politics. Who decides which beliefs are “bizzare fantasies” and which are not? To me 95% of things leftists believe are bizzare fantasies. It sounds like this “columnist” wants to deny the right to vote to people who disagrees with him. A very dangerous (and anti-American) proposal indeed. Not surprising it comes from a leftist.

They have thought of that -
It does not suit their purpose.

Obama has created this event for his media partners to use as propaganda - they commonly smear any white conservative as a racist or birther. The black news media has a birther story once a week - to keep the blacks on the Democrat voting plantation.

It is just the sub-human nature of our President and his supporters. Nothing is below them.

The libs fight like hell to discredit the idea that obama’s bc is not legit. But they speak nothing about all of his other life records. You and I can’t even go through life with all of our records hidden, but yet this guy got into the White House with all his records kept secret.
Why would they keep everything about this person secret?
Nothing is known about this guy even after 2 years in our White House except for his actions.
His actions speak to who he is.

It's far more important for us to know if George W. Bush missed his dentist appointment in 1972.

Islamic holidays are repulsive and disgusting to me, and yet he celebrates them with unabashed reverence in the Whitehouse.

That's enough for me to know we have a serious problem. He labors for the cause of my enemy. He is not my leader.
