Michelle Shocked, Ryan Bingham fire up another huge Wisconsin Capitol protest
Dean Robbins on Saturday 03/05/2011 4:54 pm,

**SNIP**

Strumming an acoustic guitar, Bingham wrapped his gravelly voice around Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are a-Changing" and Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," implicitly connecting the current protest to struggles past. You can imagine the crowd's response when he sang this line from the Dylan song: "Come senators and congressmen please heed the call/Don't stand in the doorway don't block up the hall...."

**SNIP**

Michelle Shocked flew in from Los Angeles to perform at a moment's notice. She poured so much intensity into her songs and her comments to the crowd that you sensed she would have run from L.A. to Madison -- over broken glass, no doubt -- if she hadn't been able to catch a plane.

Playing an acoustic guitar in a black leather jacket and black chapeau, Shocked never stopped smiling, despite her indignation over Republican tactics. With brief assistance from guitarist Jon Langford of the Mekons, she joked, improvised lyrics, and rattled Miss Forward on top of the Capitol with her huge voice. As a coup de grace, she got the crowd singing along to the Supremes' "Stop in the Name of Love," demanding that the Republican Party "think it o-o-ver."

Talk about a blast from the past! That’s one thing that has struck me about all this: how incredibly yesterday this whole “protest” seems.

Communism is making a run at a big comeback. The unions are keeping it alive.

I voted for Scott. He is doing just what he said he would. You can imagine how surprised I must be, and delighted.

Still, need to do more than just stand there and let them carry on like this. Time to generate PR against their childish irresponsible ways. The media jumped all over the Giffords thing, without any responsibility

The least we should be doing is borrowing page from Alinsky. Ridicule. They’re acting like children, point that out, arent you ashamed this is your kids “educators”? What kind of role models is this, etc?

Take the PR battle to them. Dont just sit back and rope a dope.

Are these names that I should recognize? I know who Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and the Supremes are but Michelle and Ryan...? I guess if they are supporting the unions then I have no desire to know who they are.

This is it.

There is no middle ground.

Either the unions and marxists win or common sense does.

If Gov.WAlker or the GOP buckles it`ll be game over for States and nationally for the next election in 2012.

This is a good sign. They’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for celebrity reinforcements.

At the peak of her — for lack of a better word — “popularity”, Michelle Shocked couldn’t sell out a laundromat. And that was 20 years ago.

@ #5

Applause, applause. That’s what this is all about - the WI Democrats will not accept that they have lost power and are looking to nullify the last election. In Ohio, they are passing the same kind of legislation ending collusive bargaining, and there isn’t 10% of the hoopla that we are seeing in WI.

I liked Binghams music as well...

Maybe he will do a ‘Dylan’/ Zimmerman...

Bob Dylan as he calls himself has been mostly conservative...

I hope ( the kid, known as Bingham ) he grows as a human and realizes the odds a free man has against the ones who wish him slavery...

Is it totally lost on these knuckleheads that they have become the gov’t-class bourgeoisie who are demanding higher taxes and sacrifices of the proletariat working class to support their bloated wage and benefits packages?

Libs flocking to Wisconsin while Governor Cuomo announces layoffs for thousands of teachers and the governor of Connecticut cut 2000 teacher positions. Mind you, Walker hasn’t laid anyone off. But Democrat governors are axing jobs like it’s no tomorrow. Two faced liberals

” who the hell is michelle shocked? “

Or, as came to mind when I first read the headline —

Why the hell is michelle shocked?

80’s proto-dyke. Annie Lennox copycat with a punk edge. I think she used to be a real hottie, if memory serves. Saw only one pic of her, tho. She probably has a beard and weighs 300lbs now.
