Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister calls for bombing of Israel
American Thinker ^ | 3/21/11 | Ed Lasky

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister has called for the bombing Of Israel.

Michael Rubin reports at Commentary Contentions

After assuring both Libyans and Turks that Turkey was not involved in airstrikes on Libya, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, of Turkey, said, "We wish that the United Nations had made such resolutions and countries had taken action in the face of incidents in Gaza, Palestine and the other regions

This is exactly the problem I thought might arise from President Obama's endorsement of the trendy principle of "Responsibility to Protect". In yesterday's blog, "The Rise of Samantha Power and the risks for the American-Israel relationship," I speculated that the rationale Obama adopted to bomb Libya bore the risks of others adopting the same "principle" to justify punishing, if not bombing, Israel.

I wrote:

It is not hard to envision that this R2P concept, swirling through the United Nations and in international foreign policy circles, can one day be applied against Israel when that nation is forced to respond from attacks coming from the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. Terrorists hide behind civilians; Israeli actions to defend themselves often happen in densely populated areas where civilian deaths are almost inevitable - despite all the precautions Israel takes to prevent them.

Let's imagine that there is a Palestinian uprising in Israel and Israel is getting the upper hand on quelling the revolution. Using the Libyan logic, there is nothing to stop the Arab league along with Obama's military from bombing the crap out of Israel until the Jews agree to surrender power.

And yes it is "Obama's military" since he seems free to use it without congressional approval. In essence since Obama is the Commander in Chief of the military and answers to no civilian legislature on the use of military power, we have a defacto Military Dictatorship in the United States.

Libya!
Who opened the can of worms?
How to put the Jack back in the box?
Any idea?
Nothing like a well thought out foreign policy considering the many ramifications.
Put the genie back in the bottle? How?

I hope to live long enough to see GOD strike down HIS enemies. Turkey will surely be among those counted.

It is time they were booted out of NATO. I was there, I could not wait to get out of that country.

I met a Turkish girl a while back... she was a friend of a guy that works for me. She was an exchange student... she had to return home and she was scared to death. Her brothers had threatened her and she may even be dead by now. She was truly afraid for her life.

Except if they do, they can never come home....

No, I have been married for 26 years and I have not “banged” anyone but my wife for the last 28 years. I believe in GOD and my oath taken in front of HIM. I pray that this Turkish girl is still alive... she was afraid one of her brothers was going to kill her when she returned to Turkey. I advised her to contact the State Department and file for residence.
