Paris Hilton Prosecutor Arrested on Drug Charges

The Las Vegas district attorney who helped prosecute Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars on separate drug charges in 2010 was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges of his own over the weekend.

David Charles Schubert, 47, was booked into jail Saturday on a charge of possession of cocaine, according to jail records. The charge was the same on which Hilton and Mars were initially booked following their arrests last summer. The socialite and the musician both later struck plea deals.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Schubert, a chief deputy district attorney, was arrested after allegedly buying crack cocaine from a street dealer as, unbeknownst to him, a police officer looked on.

Schubert was often assigned to Las Vegas's high-profile and celebrity cases, and is a member of a federal drug task force.

Possession of cocaine is a felony in Nevada.

So, they're saying that a law enforcement officer in Las Vegas was holding. Yeah, that's shocking. /s

If they want to end drug use tomorrow, all they'd have to do is make all personal drug offenses civil charges, not criminal charges. And, what would be the civil punishment? Total forfeiture of "social safety net" payments - no disability, no unemployment, no ADC etc.

People would either be able to hold a job and get stoned. Or, they'd get stoned and eventually starve. Either way, it stops being my problem.

Think of all the dogs that will be saved from our war-on-drugs.

I had no idea Cocaine was in such heavy use these days. Paris, this dope, Charlie Sheen. It really is the 1970's all over again. We got inflation, gasoline issues, Carter is President and a "snow" storm. If my time line is correct, hopefully Reagan is right around the next corner.

Politically correct rule of thunb;

If it’s a RAT, no big deal, slap on the wrist, keeps job and gets to run for higher office.

If it’s a pubby, big jail time and huge fines, all other pubbies smeared with same brush, Family and life destroyed.

Paris gets revenge. This is a great story. Although I think Paris was an idiot, I believe she has learned from her errors and seems to be doing pretty good in the last few years.

I know what you mean. I used to think coke was new as a "hip" drug ... but it's been old hat for ages! Coke's been the "drug du jour" for "hipsters" for a long time. One of my favorite books, "Murder Must Advertise" by one of the best murder mystery writers ever, Dorothy Sayers, was published in 1933 and was about cocaine use in England's upper class "bright young things" of the aristocracy, the equivalent of the Paris Hiltons of the day. It surprised me to see how little the essentials have changed over the generations.

As it says in Ecclesiastes, there's nothing new under the sun!

“Half of the DEA is probably high.”

Half of the DEA is probably selling what they confiscate and getting paid OT to do it.
