We've seen Camp Lejuene marines in Iraq and Afghanistan and now they are joining the fight against Libya. 2200 marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or 26th MEU will take part. Their mission is to help end the violence directed at the Libyan people. "In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told and right now that's protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces," said Captain Timothy Patrick, a marine with the 26th MEU. A press release from the 26th MEU reads, in part: "Protecting the innocent and conducting combined operations are what we are designed to do, our forces are doing both as part of the U.S commitment to protect Libyan citizens." Patrick says that marines from the 26th MEU are coming on the end of their deployment. They will be replaced with marines from the 22nd MEU.

I’m not happy that we’re sending them, but if we’re going to do something, let’s do it right. Fortunately, our military knows how to do it right. Unfortunately, their community organizer-in-chief won’t let them.

I thought no ground troops would be added... this is one heck of a mission-creep situation... if we don’t have as our objective to kill that bastard Libyan, we have no business being there. This is a prime example of leaving a community organized in charge... as one Louis Farrakhan said of Obamy, “who the hell, do you think... you are?!!” Well Louie, now that he has the presidency, he has no need of you or your people... finally, people of all stripes are getting the picture of who this man really is... a punk in a suit...

1) No-Fly Zone. That means we attack ground targets like radar stations, missile batteries, and airports.
2) Oh, by the way, we are also bombing columns of armor, and reducing Kadaffi's ground forces.
3) Did we forget to mention that the Marines are going in?
4) Occupation and nation building will last no longer than 30 years -- 40 tops.
5) Meet out 51st state -- Libya!

I am Conservative I want to keep my money not send it to towel heads . Sending ground troops that have been trained to “Break Things” No way! "Remember the Alamo" has been replaced by “Black Hawk Down”.
I have no wish to defend Zero, but the story does not say Marines are on the ground. It says that 2200 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit are supporting the mission against Libya. These Marines are likely all aboard ship. Note the references to AV-8B Harriers. These aircraft are likely being launched from USS Kearsarge.
There is no doubt that we could put Marines ashore in Libya and give them 24 hour air support, but this story does not say it has happened.

I must admit that I do know one or two fellow Conservatives who also drive Prii around here (the very liberal San Francisco Bay Area).
But, like you, they have NO “progressive” (i.e. communist) bumper stickers on their cars. My comment was directed at the 99% of the Prius owners in my neck of the woods. So please know that your NRA sticker grants you permanent absolution!

If the officers in the US military were serious about honoring their oaths to defend the Constitution they would invade Washington, D.C. not Libya. The crooks in D.C. have done immeasurable damage to the freedoms and well-being of American citizens. What has that tinpot dictator in Africa ever done to us?
