101st AIRBORNE COMMANDER SAYS “WAR IS NOT OVER”
EVEN WITH BIN LADEN DEAD - OUR TROOPS STILL NEED US

The commander of the Army’s 101st Airborne, the “SCREAMING EAGLES” sat down to talk with reporters about the death of Osama Bin Laden, killed earlier this week at the hands of some brave, dedicated, and lethal Navy SEALS. The commander says that despite Bin Laden’s death in Pakistan, the war is “not over” and our troops still have an important mission to finish.

“…It doesn’t mean Al Qaeda’s gone, that doesn’t mean the war's over.” said Major General John Campbell who commands the 101st.  Of the US mission in Afghanistan, he said “that’s still going to take some time.”

DON’T FORGET OUR TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ

"I think it's really set the enemy back a little bit, and the people that would have supported Al-Qaida may not support it now. And that's a good thing," Campbell said, but he cautioned people against thinking that the war is over now that Bin Laden is dead. "We still have the same mission” said Campbell.

“The successful operation that ended the life of Osama Bin Laden has been the focus of the national conversation since news broke of his death” noted the report, and it’s true. The mass media has a way of sucking the air out of every other story and focusing only on what’s hot at the moment.

Right now the hot story is the Bin Laden’s death and the Navy SEALS who killed him, WE MUST NOT FORGET that we still have hundreds of thousands of troops overseas serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I’d rather yank them out until we get a President who won’t leave them vulnerable.

I understand your sentiment. However, war cannot be fought on that contingent.
